Agree completely. I hate people/media/team using schedule as an excuse. Buffalo and the Bengals are not good teams and we lost to them. You are also correct that the talent levels between teams is very close, especially after you get out of the Top 10 teams.
And i agree with that, too. That's why the CS also has to bear the brunt of being 1-7 this season. poor decisions on 4th downs, bad playcalling in key spots, and utterly inept halftime adjustments all contributed to blowing second half leads.
how many points has our offense scored this year? Nine offensive TDs in 8 games! Yes we suck defensively. But 9 TDs by the offense--11 FGs. That is an average of a little more than 1 TD and almost 1 and 1/2 FGS per game. (hope my figures are accurate) And the games have been close. So I know the D is bad. I see it with my eyes. But it seems to me the problem is the offense.
It really is a team effort when you win and when you loose. There’s no need to break down every facet of the team; one big finger points squarely at the Jets Organization. From the bottom up. A know nothing owner who doesn’t get involved in his little play thing , coaches that didn’t accurately assess our talent level and needs of most importance, A new defensive coordinator who probably is a great assistant but d-line coach not in my eyes, A quarter back the fooled everyone because he’s smart! Defensive players who cant get any push or are undersized to make any good contribution while on the field. We are loosing because the Jets are a Bad football team. Thank god for the dolphins!
I do not know why you quoted me as I completely agree. If you look back on my posts, the D is bad yes. However if we had a real live mediocre QB the Jets are either a .500 team or damn close right now. This Jet team has in my eyes saw about as worse a 6 game stretch from any starting QB that I can remember and the Jets have had some real shitty QBs'.
This season is right up there. Others that quickly come to mind are Richard Todd in 1980 ( a brutal interception-fest) O'Brien/Eason/the immortal Kyle Mackey in 1989 (Joe walton's last season) Nagle/O'Brien from 1992 (the end was near for Kenny and Browning was plain awful after opening day). 95 and 96 are one big blur of Boomer/O'Donnell/Frank Reich and Bubby Brister. There had to be multiple 6 game streaks those seasons.
We are losing because our Offensive and Defensive lines are not controlling the line of scrimmage. The O-line is not getting any push up front to open any holes. Our D-line is not can?t stop the run and is not getting any pressure on the quarterback.
Did not mean to quote you. My apologies. My point is that the defense stinks, it cannot get off the field. It wasn't that great last year. But with a moderately successful offense we win 4 games this year. We are 4 and 4 and we are all saying well, we expected to take a step back this year. I primarily blame the offense.
The shed a year ago wasn't easier at all at the half way point of the season and we were 4-4 compare to 1-7 this year. last year we played NE, Indy and Jax the first half while this year the only real good team we've played was NE. We aren't losing b/c of the sched we are losing b/c we are playing terrible football. Chad is making terrible decisions, the OL stinks, the receiversdrop too many balls, the running game is inconsistent, the D can't stop anybody, the K is inconsistent, the team wears out late in games, the coaching staff has done a horrible job... If we played like this last year we would have won 4 games and if we played this schedule the way we played last year we'd be 5-3 or 6-2 right now.
That's true. Our first half schedule this year was not hard at all. The second half is much harder which is why I can't see more then 3 wins this year (now) no matter who the QB is. Probably 2. Of course everything could get much better if we could just find a way to stop the run.
