I'm not arguing that but some people are just too naieve and allow others to take advantage of them. Arod seems to be the perfect example of that.
I did not even realize this nextstunning fact b/c I did not watch the WS butMatsuzaka ha a 2 RBI hit in Game 3 of the WS? Let this next sentence sink in for a while: Daisuke Matsuzaka has more postseason RBI in 3 ABs than Alex Rodriguez(the greatest player ever some in this thread say) in his last 56 ABs. Yep he deserves a raise.:drunk: Hey Alio you have been begging me to stop using the bubba Crosby comparison well that ones gone and I have a new one.
Junc, you're seriously delusional. I'm not even going to respond to you at this point, simply because now you've adopted a strategy of actually changing my argument to make your points, rather than your own.
So, everybody agrees that Boras must have at least one deal lined up for Arod and probably two. I find it extremely funny though that he was whining yesterday that he can't understand why the Yankees won't negotiate with Arod but will with Rivera and Posada. He was saying they are all free agents, what's the difference? At least I can feel good that just maybe he made the biggest miscalculation in history. The other thing is that the leaks about the Yankee deal were that the extension would have been 30 million a year for 5 or 6 years which would have been a total cost to the Yankees of 195-225 million for 8 or 9 years. I am sure everybody will take that into account when they now make their offers.
Changing your argument? you called me names for brining up the FACT that Bubba crosby in 8 postseason ABs has as many RBI as ARod in his last 56. You never give ARod and hint of blame, now it turns out Matsuzaka has MORE RBI than ARod in just 3 ABs. i think that says it all but that doesn't make sense, right? it only makes sense to blame everyone but ARod.
Okay, I'll respond to this. Your point about both Crosby and Matsuzaka is silly. Why? Because you're taking small sample sizes to use as your point. What did ARod do before the GYC in the playoffs? You can't count all of Crosby or Matsuzaka's at-bats in the postseason, and then use a fraction of ARod's postseason at-bats. If you can't understand that, you're only supporting my point that you're delusional. As for ARod, I've never absolved ARod of blame for his postseason performance, and that's where you change my argument at will. Sure, he's failed, miserably. My point has always been that he's not the only one who's failed in October during the period you are so obsessed over. If it were only ARod that failed, then yeah, I'd be all over him too. But he's been there with all of these other bats that hit for 6 months then go stone cold with the weather. No single person is responsible for all of the failures, not even Joe Torre. As for Joe, it's on him that the team failed because his only job is to motivate his team. And he hasn't done it in years. Is he solely responsible for the failures? No. Is he responsible though? Yes.
Not to mention that if he had been the only one who failed in the post season we would now have 4 more championship flags flying over the stadium.
3 1/2 postseason series would not be considered a small sample size, 56 ABs is not a small smaple size. Are 8 and 3 ABs small sample sizes? yes but the fact that Bubba had the same # of RBI and Matsuzaka had more in so mny less ABs tells us something. it's really not that hard to knock in a few runs especially w/ the talent of ARod and to have just 1 in 56 ABs is unacceptable. First off in the first 3 games of the 2004 ALCS he was6-14 w/ 3 RBI BUT all 3 of his RBi came in the blowut win in game 3. In the 2 close ames in games 1 and 2 he had ZERO RBI. Overall in that series he hit .258. In his yankee career he had ONE big series and that was against Minny in the '04 LDS. You are right I am using a fraction of ARod's postseason ABs but do you know what that fraction is? 40% those last 56 ABs are 40% of his total posteason ABs. That's not a small samle size, it's almost half his postseason ABs. I have said over and over again that he wasn't the only one who failed just that he's the only one who has failed each series since the collapse of '04. he's been our LEAST productive player the last 16 postseason games and he's our most talented player. Yeah certain guys sucked this series or last year or 2 years ago but only ARod has sucked in each series. It's hard to win when your players can't hit in the clutch and whe your best player is your worst clutch hitter then it's even more difficult to win. Again, Torre deserves some blame, when you can't win a series in 3 years he deserves his share but no one person was more responsible for our recent failures than Arod. If he played like he is capapble of we probably would have at least 2 more banners.
The same can be said about any number of people. You can also say if Torre doesn't start Kevin F***ing Brown in game 7 of the ALCS in '04 or Jared F***ing Wright in Game 4 of the ALDS in '06 we would probably also have two more flags.
Shhh, that totally destroys his point of ARod being the primary reason the Yankees haven't won in almost a decade.
Here's a thought: Before Miguel Cabrera kicks Florida's ass in arbitration again this year, do the Yankees (or the Red Sox, for that matter) have enough to wave at them in trade? I can't imagine they'd be too interested in paying him escalating salaries for the next two years. Or, is Mike Lowell a Yankee?
Dear god I hope the Sox don't give up anything other than money for a guy that's going to be too fat to play anywhere except possibly DH within two or three years. To sign a guy like that as a free agent is fine, but to give up prospects to get him is not, especially when you already have the best DH in the game.
Yeah, that's the problem. Maybe it's because he is in Florida and maybe it's just the way he is. I would hate to give up a lot for him at this point. Of course you just know when it reaches his contract year he will come into camp looking like a chiseled statue and be the nicest guy on the planet. One of the possibilities is to move Jeter to third now that his range at short has become so limited. It might be easier to find a ss then a 3rd baseman anyway. Cano, who would be great at 3rd because of his arm has no desire to play there at all.
