To start off I guess rumors: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playernews.aspx?sport=MLB Geoff Jenkins to be a FA after Brewers decline his '08 option Brad Ausmus signs a 1 year deal with Houston Timlin will not retire Toronto may resign Kennedy Holiday to receive multi-year offer from Col. Andruw Jones to Dodgers? Mets/Marlins in chase for Torrealba Cabrera to Yankees? According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, Joel Pineiro's two-year deal with the Cardinals is worth $13 million. Japanese FAs - http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/sports/20071023TDY22304.htm Hiroshima Carp right-hander Hiroki Kuroda..... Other players eligible to for free agency included outfielder Kosuke Fukudome and lefty stopper Hitoki Iwase of Chunichi, along with Lotte closer Masahide Kobayashi, Hanshin starter Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi and Yokohama hurler Daisuke Miura.
I know what is he capable of, but I don't know if I would want the Yankees to go out and get Miguel Cabrera. I'm assuming Hughes, Joba, etc would be involved, and I rather them stay.
its possible with a package of melky, kennedy and one more good/two decent prospects. id say it would be worth it for the yankees
Agreed...I'm a little baffled by that one. I put it in the Mets thread, but I'll put it here too: There's a legit possibilitythat the Mets make a run for A-Rod...Sounds very intruiging.
Have you watched Cabrera play? He is a talented hitter BUT, he is very lackadaisical on defense, plays like he does not care, and is generally getting to be a fat toad. Not exactly a Joe Girardi player.
I don't think I can agree with you. If Melky is traded, who is the CF? I don't want Damon there, because that would mean Matsui back in LF, which isn't going to work anymore. Perhaps Tori Hunter, as he is now a Free Agent?
When Melky is included in this deal which i think is going to happen this is going to set the stage for Andrew Jones in CF for yankees. MARK IT DOWN!
 The days of the Yankees going after free agents just because of their name are over my friend.
 I dont think so. Last year was an aberration for Jones. Andruw JOnes will give the Yankees a Much needed Solid Defense player who they have lacked in CF for the past 7 or 8 years (excluding Melky Cabrera ). They guy has pop and can play on the big stage. Think back to 96 world series. When you think about it makes sense. Too much sense. Again this is if Melky is traded in a package for Miguel Cabrera.
What was an aberration for Jones? Him gaining 20 lbs and losing two steps on his jump. Didn't you watch any of Atlanta's games against the Mets?
Grady Little is no longer the Dodgers manager. I wouldn't be surprised if they announced something tonight about Joe Torre taking the job, but I'm expecting that they announce something tomorrow by the time I get home from school.
That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw the list. When was the last truly "great" FA year? I can't even remember one where I was like "WoW, this is a great Christmas list!"
some news: Mets exercise alous option Yanks have prepared offers for posada ~(3 yr, 40mill) and Rivera ~(3 yr 40 mil)-these are expected offers, but does not change the fact that the yankees have definatley prepared offers http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/yankees/2007/10/mo_meeting_with_yanks_today.html Pettitte has announced he will either play for yankees or retire http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/yankees/ny-spandy1101,0,6266412.story Reds exercise option on Dunn
