Don, why are you being immature about this. Hank Steinbrenner telling AROD he would have gotten more after the fact, is like you telling your wife or girlfriend that your 4 inch dick just grew to 7 inches over night after they left you for someone else.

I guess because he wouldn't even meet with them to hear the offer. That's just plain outright discourteous. Steinbrenner seems to have an edge about him that leads me to believe he would do just that.

Actually, if you read what he said yesterday he has pretty much set that up already when he said Arod would have been the richest player in baseball history if he stayed here...just wait and see.

I just don't get this whole thing....

Basically, The Yankees are irate, because if they want to keep ARod, they have to pay the market price, and lose the Subsidy they would have gotten from Texas....

And this crap about upstaging the World Series???

I didnt hear football fans whining about the Yankees dragging out the Torre thing, to stay on the backpages through the first half of Football, or through the World Series...

You're right, you just don't get it.

First half of football? It took them less then a week to make the decision.

Really? The Torre/Replacement saga dragged on from the first weekend in October, (Granted the Yanks were still in Clevleand losing at that point) across the rest of the playoffs, and through the World Series.

I mean, maybe it just feels like it's been the whole month....

But IIRC correctly instead of just getting it over with, they let him dangle for a week, then offered him a contract he was never going to accept, then took some more time to interview candidates, and then let the world know
on Firday, during the Series, that even though they had no decision an announcement would come as soon as Tuesday....

    Please...

You said Torre. Torre took a week. Picking a new manager obviously took longer. Torre accepted or will accept a contract from the Dodgers for much less then the Yankees offered so that's just a lot of garbage. Girardi's contract won't pay him in 3 years what Torre would have made in 1.

And yes, Tuesday after the WS would most likely be over. If it wasn't they would have still waited until it was.

As far as Arod is concerned, it has nothing to do with the 21 million from Texas or paying him what he's worth. It's Boras and it has always been Boras. He would use the Yankees to bid against themselves and every other team in baseball and then still have Arod go to some cellar dweller if the price was right. They have no intention of playing that game all winter long.

Now he can try and get The Red Sox, Dodgers, Angels and Giants to bid against themselves instead. See how high they go knowing the Yankees aren't involved.

You mean when he didn't show up to the WS to get the Hank Aaron Award or is this something else?

Yeah, a "prior commitment" scheduled for the 4th game of the world series..I guess he knew he wouldn't be playing then.

What I really think is was his way of getting back at Aaron for what happened with Bonds this year. His good buddy got slighted by Aaron so he was paying him back...now I'm really hoping Arod's name is in the Mitchell report. See what he gets paid then.

Supposedly Boras already has a new deal in place... I know they won't since they would never get a whiff of Boras' clients again but I really hope the Yankees file some tampering charges and show that asshole that hes not above the sport

You are probably right but not getting a chance at Boras's clients would hurt him a hell of a lot more then it would ever hurt the Yankees. Not to mention if tampering was proved he would lose his license and then have no clients anyway.

The opt out announcement came after reports that the Yankees were trying to meet with Boras and offer an extension worth 27-30 mil per year for 4-5 years.
I cant fault the Yankees here. They were trying to bring him back but Boras had NO intentions of letting that happen.

As I heard it, the Yankees only wanted to meet with Boras if ARod was also in the room, presumably to get around the Svengali-like grip that Boras has on ARod. Frankly, ARod is in the position he's in right now because he listened to Boras when he signed his first big contract. Boras has never steered him wrong yet.

ARod iis in control, if he allows Boras to take control it's still ARod's fault. There isn't any passing of the blame to the agent, Alex has the ultimate responsibility for whatever happens.

light hitting Lugo drove in more rus this postseason than the great ARod has done in 3 1/2 postseasons. It makes zero sense for Boston to waste $30 mil on him when you are winning w/o him. I hope you spend $40 mil a year on him, that would be great news for the rest of the league.

Yep you always make sense like when you just blame Joe and give ARod passes very year for his poor October play. We have lost b/c of everyone else but ARod, right? why would we need our best player to drive in more than 1 RBI in 3 1/2 postseasons? keep making sense Alio.

Are you crazy? Boras put him in Texas. Now he would put him in Florida if the price is right or even worse, on a team like the Dodgers where he will hit maybe 30 HRS a year. Boras has never done right by Arod, only himself.
