I found it more offensive to baseball in general than to the yankees in particular

baseball should be grateful that there's something to talk about other then how boring and uncompetitive this playoffs was with the exception of one series.

Wouldn't it have been great if Cashman just sent back something like this:

True that... the absolute minumum games played in the NL
    AZ vs Cubs sweep
    Rockies vs Phils sweep
    Rockies vs AZ sweep

    in the AL
    Sawx vs Angels sweep
    Skanks and Tribe 3-1
    Tribe vs Sawx 4-3

    WS Sawx vs Rox sweep

7 series and in all but 2 the losing team didn't even win a game. Talk about boring and uncompetitive.

The debate about A Rod's value to a team seem to swirl forever, but I don't think that there is any doubt that he's a jackass. It is obvious that they timed this to happen right before the end of the World Series to attract attention, which is obnoxious, but not showing up to get the Aaron award is just plain classless, and makes him look like a jerk.

Do you want him on the Mets? I agree with everything you just said but I would take him for the Mets in a heartbeat.

It's not like he's any bigger of a jackass then say, Billy Wagner.

And what the heck does that mean?

The Yankees kicked the Indians asses in 2007.

Oh, wait. That happened in the regular season only.

As someone who does not like the Yankess, I would be very happy if the Yankess acquire Hunter or Jones. It would be very Farnsworthian of the Yankess.

I would not want him on the Mets. A-Rod is just another guy who does not care about winning.

You are brilliant. You just critisized the Mets possibly getting Posada on another thread because "he has already won".

Posada would just collect a paycheck from the Mets as he declines horribly. A-Rod is clearly more interested in money and his image than winning.

Haha..another Boras bash. Nothing they would like more then to prove tampering and pull his license.

    http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/10439506

Boras announced during Game 4 of the World Series on Sunday night that A-Rod was opting out of the final three seasons of his contract with the New York Yankees. The timing left baseball officials livid.

"We were very disappointed that Scott Boras would try to upstage our premier baseball event of the season with his announcement," Bob DuPuy, baseball's chief operating officer, said Monday in an e-mail to the Associated Press.

"There was no reason to make an announcement last night other than to try to put his selfish interests and that of one individual player above the overall good of the game," DuPuy said. "Last night and today belong to the Boston Red Sox, who should be celebrated for their achievement, and to the Colorado Rockies, who made such an unbelievable run to the World Series."

This is just as much on A-Rod as it is on Boras. He could've said "wait a couple days, let's not take anything away from the game." But instead, he lets Boras announce the opt-out. A-Rod is beginning to develop a "bigger than the game" image. First he can't make it to Coors Field to receive the Hank Aaron award, and now he pulls this.

Quite frankly, I'm almost glad he won't be back. Sure he's one to best players to even play the game, and the Yanks most certainly won't be able to replace his production in 2008, but players don't win championships, teams do. I see the Yankees beginning to resemble the teams of 96-2000, and I can't wait to see how Cashman builds this team.

Fuck Arod. I'm glad he's gone. He has got to be the most hated player in baseball by the rest of the players.

you mean, just like Babe Ruth? - AROD IS bigger than the game, you just don't realize it because you are living in his era now. YEARS FROM NOW, he will be recognized as the greatest player of all time. He will also be applauded for telling the Yankees to shove the monuments.
