True that... the absolute minumum games played in the NL AZ vs Cubs sweep Rockies vs Phils sweep Rockies vs AZ sweep in the AL Sawx vs Angels sweep Skanks and Tribe 3-1 Tribe vs Sawx 4-3 WS Sawx vs Rox sweep 7 series and in all but 2 the losing team didn't even win a game. Talk about boring and uncompetitive.
The debate about A Rod's value to a team seem to swirl forever, but I don't think that there is any doubt that he's a jackass. It is obvious that they timed this to happen right before the end of the World Series to attract attention, which is obnoxious, but not showing up to get the Aaron award is just plain classless, and makes him look like a jerk.

This is just as much on A-Rod as it is on Boras. He could've said "wait a couple days, let's not take anything away from the game." But instead, he lets Boras announce the opt-out. A-Rod is beginning to develop a "bigger than the game" image. First he can't make it to Coors Field to receive the Hank Aaron award, and now he pulls this. Quite frankly, I'm almost glad he won't be back. Sure he's one to best players to even play the game, and the Yanks most certainly won't be able to replace his production in 2008, but players don't win championships, teams do. I see the Yankees beginning to resemble the teams of 96-2000, and I can't wait to see how Cashman builds this team.
