Why does everybody wanna trade Vilma, i dont know maybe im biased Vilma plays for the jets and went to U so he gets a lot of points with me. But the fact that me livin in miami and all i dont really get to see the jets as much as everybody else on this forum, so i dont get to see Vilma play in the 3-4, is he really that bad , like blockers just run him over on every running play, or he looks lost on passing plays. I dont know somebody feel me in.

I think that most of u are just  and are looking for somebody to blame. And please dont give me the weight shit Donnie Edwards was 229 and played mlb in the 34 defense.

Me im just thinkin move Dewayne to end draft a nother de (Chris long/Dre moore in the draft and eventaully find a nt that can play) Im sayin its just linebacker he didnt suddenly forget how to play that.

Vilma is still pretty good in the 3-4 in my opinion, he is an above average player. But in the 4-3, he is a monster. And I don't think everyone wants to trade him, they just fear this will happen.

Vilma had been inconsistent, ranging from terrible to good in the 3-4... It all, really, depends on how the guys in front of him are playing....

In a 3-4 with a NT like Jamal Williams, in San Deigo, he could conceivably succeed like Donnie Edwards did. Here, with Robertson, not a chance..

He's been a mixed bag in the 3-4. I've seen him whiff tackles on a surprising amount of times...a different Vilma from his earlier days. I dunno, it just looks like he's hesitant or confused out there. But, like most have mentioned, his drop in productivity is probably due to the lack of a big tubby taking up blockers.

Enough about the weight , the height all that shit.. Vilma just does not have The SKILL to play in this defense, yes maybe donnie edwards is 229 but im sure he could effectively disengage a lineman and avoid them most time... Vilma cannot do either to save his life in THIS defense....

Vilma is a terrible 3-4 ILB. The job of a 3-4 ILB is to get up to the line of scrimmage and make tackles. Routine tackles 4 and 5 yards deep are meaningless to the scheme and tackles 9 yards deep, as the Jets are getting all the time are useless.

Watch Zach Thomas and Teddy Bruschi in their primes and you see what a 3-4 ILB is supposed to do: get to the LOS and make hard impactful tackles.

As his former HC said on WQAM when we drafted him we erred & should have drafted Wilfork instead beacuse JV was just not fit for the NFL.

above average in the 3-4? He is a complete waste of a player in the 3-4...doesnt even belong on the field...I am thrilled that hes not on the team anymore this year....and hopefully hes gone for good

i wouldnt mind keeping him- its hard for anyone to look good in this all round shambles of a d-fense,
but then again we should get pretty good value trading him to a 4-3 team, at least a second
