Seems like there is nothing wrong with the guy, other than a mental case of a head coach. The Jets would be nuts if they didn't sign him.
What have we got to lose by having a look at him? If we wait too long someone is bound to snap him up.
sign him, he could at least help us to find some things out: 1. is all vilma needs to be a good 34 ILB a big body in front, or is vilma trade bait? 2. is DRob a starting caliber DE in the 34 or is he trade bait. We need to see him out there more than just 2-3 plays a game to know if he?s a fit at End. we need the answers on this (and Clemens? play), to know, what our needs are when we head to the offseason. If vilma?s play doesn?t improve with a big body infront of him, we have to trade him, and get another ILB. If DRob is as good an End as many here belive, we got a solid group of DEs, and there?s no need to go for Long or Calais Campbell! The least we get is information about our D.
This is too easy- the Jets are going to pass on Jackson and use that "character" excuse. I mean, with all the success that high character guys like Chatham, Kassel, Olehoffen, and others have had, can you blame the Jets for sticking to their guns?
Love the idea of a NT in 08 draft, but uh he needs a mentor and uh D-rob aint it. And besides, the chances a rookie NT is going to be starting caliber right off is nuts, if Jackson is around he can teach, and worst comes to worst just rotate with the guy. We really should attempt to sign the guy.
DeAngelo Hall came out today and sounded PISSED at the coaching staff for releasing Jackson.... In the same article about this on ESPN.com, they mention his stats... a sack and a half, 5 and a half tackles for losses... I want him on this team ASAP! But with Mangini's judgement, we all know we won't even bring him in for a workout
So in all seriousness, aside from the the hopefullness, has anything actually been said, whether it be on ESPN or w/e, that the Jets are interested in him?
There probably won't be much information if/when he clears waivers, then the "interest" will surface.

I'm still trying to find out the exact details, but my understanding is with his years he has the right to forgo the waiver wire, but it is his choice. He would take the chance of someone not matching his current contract if he did that and might end up with less money. Not sure if he exercised that right or not though...
