What would be a better long-term strategy for the Jets Defense?

  1. 3 - 4 with new players

    49.2%
  2. 4 -3 keeping as many of the current guys on as possible

    50.8%

Going back and forth will set us back more than help us especially since this season is basically already lost, and the people you are talking about as our defensive talent that isn't effective at the 3-4 isn't good enough in my opinion to provide enough upside at the 4-3, plus this defensive core is aging/ineffective as is.

Using size as an excuse to switch back to the 4-3 is a big reason why we almost never beat New England anymore. Our size whether in the 4-3 or the 3-4 would have problems against most good teams. Enough of waffling just go straight onward so that we can actually grow with the system.

We have the personnel to play the 4-3. I don't know if we have the coaching staff to make the change. Everyone thinks we have talent for the 4-3! So why do we continue to put people in losing situations?

Good interview, Vilma seems like a really nice guy. I would prefer the leader of the Jets D make me want to lock the doors and get out a gun rather than invite him in to meet the wife and kids and have cookies and milk.

One thing that we have sorely missed is the presence of John Abraham. We need a new Abe, and Bryan Thomas is a severe downgrade. Remember the year that Abe and Ellis were vying for sack leader. If we had that today, we would not be looking at 1-6. It would change everything, defense and offense. IMO, it is the greatest need on this team, and it has to be addressed in the off-season in a big way.
