    Clement
    Clarke
Vilma unless they go back to a 4-3
    Robertson, ditto Vilma
    McCareins
    Barrett

Hobson is solid, but miscast as an OLB. He would be much more effective inside. Remember how Vilma got bowled over by Brandon Jacobs? That ain't happening to Hobson in that situation.

Then again, who replaces all these guys anyway? Quality free agents? :drunk:

Once they finally build this team up which will take 2 or more seasons the following players will be long gone:
    J-Mac
    Ryan
    Clarke
    Clement
    D-Rob
    Barton
    Eric Coleman
    Dyson
    Barret

I think im the only one who doesnt think McCariens is useless.

That drop in Baltimore was freakin absolutely horrible, but I'm not gonna destroy the guy for one play. Hell, if/when we start Clemens we might see some more drops from players who everyone loves, just for the mere fact that Clemens throws a completely different ball than Pennington and it would I imagine be tough to transition.

That having been said. McCareins is what he is. Trading that high pick for him was stupid and his salary is too. But the guy is a decent 3rd reciever and I'd rather keep him around than take a potential rough cap hit for him. Let him play out his contract and try and get him involved in some way, maybe he just needs a confidence boast.

I could see Barrett being gone next year, certainly Clarke won't be starting next season. I could see Clement and Eric Coleman being gone. I would not be surprised if Chad Pennington and Jon Vilma both are gone next year, hopefully both traded for something decent.

I was McCarebear's greatest supporter, during pre-season. He was catching everything thrown his way. But during the season, when it counted, he has been a nightmare. And anyway, Brad Smith has emerged as a very good #3. There is no reason whatsoever to keep the overpaid loser. JMac needs to JPack!

yes, now that Smith is getting a lot of reps at WR, he's starting to grasp the position; his hands are good and he excels in space. if/when Stuckey returns healthy, we'll be fine at WR. we can afford to release McCareins.

Everyone seems to be naming Barrett. I've never been a big fan of the guy and he's not very good in coverage. But the reality is that he's one of the few guys on the D right now that can actually tackle. Dyson sure as hell can't. Barrett is a role player and doesn't cost a lot of money. Why get rid of him?

I don't so much mean that these guys need to be taken off the team, so much as that they should be the ones to go should anyone go. Okay, okay. Asterisk on the ones that I want off the roster no matter what.

    Out the Door:

*Justin McCareins - Yeaaah. He's had too many chances. It's the same every year: He's great in the off-season but chokes in the games.

*Eric Barton - Mediocre at best and we have Harris now. Vilma is still the leader of the defense, so you can't get rid of him yet and who knows what could happen once the defensive line is improved. Vilma isn't playing consistently well. He just needs to commit to that word that the Jets have been saying way too much.

*David Bowens - He's been useless thus far.

*Adrien Clarke - I don't feel comfortable with him being our backup, much less starting.

Jason Pociask OR Joe Kowalewski - We've got four tight ends (Dearth DOES NOT COUNT), and none of them are that great. One of these guys needs to make room for a newer, more athletic TE. I like Ryan and Baker as our mainstays for now, but a good, athletic receiving TE could really give our offense some more firepower.

David Barrett OR Drew Coleman - Pick a nickel back already, jeez. David Barrett is great at defending deep routes but plays too far off the LoS and allows the opposing offenses to have a pressure valve on every passing down. Nothing against Drew Coleman, but if we keep Barrett, he could take a nice boot out the door.

    Straddling the Edge:

Shawn Ellis - I'm willing to keep this vet around for rotational purposes, but I would rather move Robertson to his spot. C.J. Mosley can also rotate for less money, though, so that is something to think about. Still, he deserves a shot for all of the bs that he has put up with in this organization. Heart says yes, mind says no.

Anthony Clement - He's still serviceable, but won't be for long. It's the same issue that we had with that clown of a guard whom I refuse to mention.

Brandon Moore - He just needs to be replaced. Moore would be Moore than suitable if we only had an excuse like our starter going down due to an injury.

mccareins is not needed. i think smith is ok. robertson too, but i think he's a keeper if they switch to 4-3.
