Ah yes, the Ego of the Jets fan raises its ugly head again. (not directed at the original poster, but the "geniuses" who have taken over the thread.

First it was, "Schlegel sucks because none of us ever heard of him and the 'experts' call him a reach.

Then it was, "Schlegel sucks because he made two bad plays in his second preseason game.

Then it was "The only reason Schlegel is making plays in the preseason is because he's up against scrubs"

Then, "Schlegel sucks because he doesnt make the dress list"

Then, "Schlegel sucks because we drafted Harris"

Then, "Schlegel sucks he's arena league material. We should cut him"

Then, "Schlegel sucks cause we cut him."

Now its "Schlegel only looks good because he's playing for a bad team."

Now let me ask you something. Isnt it better to look good playing on a bad D (Schlegel) than to look bad playing on a bad D (Vilma, Barton, Hobson)?

FWIW, the Bengals D with Schlegel held LJ to less than 20 second half yds last week and I'd be willing to bet you the numbers against the Jets are similar. Schlegel has made more stops in his three starts (the last 3 games) 15 than Vilma 14 and the same number as Barton. And he's made 5 stops in the backfield. I'd be willing to bet you the entire Jets LB squad doesnt have many more than that (excluding sacks).

Bottom line is the guy can play at a high level and help D's stop the run. But I guess the Jets dont need anyone like that.

He is only playing for the Bungles because they lost a bunch of LB's and really have no choice but to play him. If that wasn't the case he'd be inactive or on the bench.

Exactly. Granted, he is playing well, but he didn't do enough while here to show he was more valuable to this roster than even a Matt Chatham. Had players not gotten hurt he more than likely would have been languishing on the bench in Cincy. It's not as if we released Brett Favre and his rocket arm and mobility. We released a guy who hadn't distinguished himself, had questionable NFL talent, and limited physical skill. Moreover, this wouldn't even be a discussion if we were 6-1. This is nothing more than a matter of frustration.

Oh Man this season just keeps getting worse and worse , Mangini let go of a pretty good player in Schlegel but for his defense Schelegel wasnt doing much but then again he played only one freakin season with us.

Are you thick or are you just intentionally missing the point.

The point isnt whether or not he would be starting without injuries -- he probably wouldnt eventhough the Bengals did use him on short ydg plays against the Ravens in game 2.

The point is that he has shown that he can play on the NFL level. The Jets cut a guy who they spent a #3 on, who has proven that he is a run stopper (5 TFL in 3 games), in order to keep Brad Kassell and Cody Spencer without giving him a chance to play LB in a regular season game. That is the definition of stupid.
