What's going on with Benny this year? Statistically he has fallen way off from the excellent first 2 years.

I'm kinda glad the old punting reports are no longer here. Sheesh.

I can't view the games (no technical ability to do sopcast or other computer based way of viewing and no Jets games shown in Aus yet this year) so is there any obvious reason for his poor form?

Is he trying more spiral kicks and thus shanking more often? Is he being rushed? Snaps still good?

Yes, this thread is about the punter so those who aren't interested spare us the "why are we talking about the punter" crap. The Aussies are interested (worried actually), that's all.

I can't speak to whether he's changing up the kinds of kicks he's trying to make, but there's certainly no question that he's been pretty bad this year - far fewer boomers than before, and way too many shanked kicks. The snaps are fine, and I don't think he's been getting rushed any more than before.

No explanations for you, just confirmation that the impression you get from the stats is no illusion.

I've been wondering too. It's not like our offense has been much more productive. He shanked one badly today.

He wasn't excellent his irst 2 years, he has a tremendous leg but he is always inconsistent. He'l boom a 50 yarder one punt then the next he'll punt a 25 yarder add that to his poor holding on PATs and FGs and it's time we find a new Punter.

I agree with junc;.....he was good the first two years not excellent......as junc said he was inconsistent and God forbid the man have any touch or direction on his ball and land one inside the 10.....everything from mid field would go flying into the endzone....and this year he just sucks.....thats another job thats open for competition in my eyes

He is statistically right in the middle of the pack in almost every category...certainly nothing special.

    Very funny.

Actually, Benny was fairly responsible for putting up 7 points for the Bengals with that shank. Getting paid what he is, that performance on the field is inexcusable.
