This could also be used to keep visiting fans out, ya know. If tickets are only available on the Pats website, they could say, "We'll only sell to someone with a NE ISP address". Then how 'right' would it be?
I have mixed feelings on scalpers. I hate them in one sense because only the rich or corporations end up with tickets people want to sell and on the other hand players and coaches in the NFL scalp their tickets all the time. Especially during the superbowl which we found out last year. As long as they get away with it then why shouldn't everybody else?
Currently, the only way you can buy tickets on the Patriots website would be if you are a Season Ticket Holder (16 seasons here), a Club Seat Holder or on the waiting list and thereby have a requisite passcode to sign on to the Ticket Exchange section. If I need an extra ticket or two, and if they are available, I can purchase available tickets at face value. Since no one is selling, potential buyers are out of luck.
So you're a good guy to ask. How do you feel about this. Kraft is clearly going after the wallets of his valued customers. He doesn't want them getting a years worth of tickets at a discount, after selling some games. He doesn't think it's fair that Season Ticket holders with good seats can sell the playoff game and one other game and end up with free Pats tickets for 7 games, while Joe Chowdahead non-seasonticket holder has to pay $1,500-$2000 for 4 seats to one game,...meaning Joe Chowdahead non season ticket holder aint going......Mr. Gordon Gecko slicked back hair NY wall street wise a$$ is. Your take?
I would NEVER sell my tickets on StubHub or any other agency's website and here's why: Mr Kraft has a policy regarding the actions of his patrons. If you get drunk, bring in liquor, smoke a cigarette where you are not supposed to or violate any other rules as detailed on the Patriots web site you will most likely lose your Season Ticket privileges. If you give your tickets to another individual who violates any of the rules (either by sale or gift), you as the STH is responsible for that individuals actions and will lose your ST privileges because of the illecit actions of others even if you are not present at the game. There are no questions asked and no appeals process. With the ticket exchange, if you sell your tickets thru that program you are, in effect, selling them back to the Patriots at your cost and the team is reselling them, effectively eliminating the STHs responsibility for the actions of the buyer, no matter what rules are violated. If I sold my STs on the ticket exchange and the purchaser gets into a fight or whatever, I'm not responsible and I will not lose my ST privileges. In past years I could have sold my 2 tickets to playoff games for enough to pay for the next season's ticket cost and then some. My decision not to do so was made to protect my investment without worrying if something will go wrong at the game and I would be removed from the ST list.
Scalpers don't get their tickets from corporations or the rich. Those people are selling their tickets on stubhub, giving them away, or just leaving the seats empty. The scalpers are people that buy up season tickets and sit on ticketmaster refreshing over and over again to buy up as many tickets as they can so they can sell them at a premium.
