Good call by Mangini. Otherwise he would look like an ass after saying Pennington was still the guy. Now he just looks like an ass because Chad is still starting, not because he is a liar. Good job Mangenius!
Of course that could mean they tried and had no takers. It would be just like him or any other coach to make it sound like it was never considered.
The only way Chad would have been traded successfully (read for value) would have been if Clemens replaced him after the injury. His play since then has really hurt the Jets chances to trade him. And Chicago is definitely not interested. Chad in the windy city would be a major joke.
haha..i have a mental image of that in mind..I did once see Namath throw a ball in Buffalo, and we all know the arm he had, that ended up 10 yards behind him when he was trying to throw it 50 yards downfield. He threw up his hands, shook his head and limped off the field. Of course the wind was blowing about 70 mph into his face.
Just heard on Monday Night Countdown that the Jets are willing to listen to offers for Chad Pennington.
Then expect Clemens to start this week. You don't go public with the willingness to trade your QB and then play him the next week...it's over.
It was a stupid rumor anyway – who on god’s green earth (besides about 13 people on this board) would trade for him?
If he goes it will be for an undisclosed draft pick, rumored to be as high as a second round pick depending on how he does in the new setting. I don't think he is tradeable right now though. He just looks beaten and nobody wants a beaten QB.
I think teams like KC and Chicago would be willing to give us a # 6 or 7 round pick for Chad Pennington but I don't think Mangini would do it....
Miami( although they have Beck), 49ers, Chicago...quite possibly teams like the Rams and Ravens as well.. I heard the Patriots are in the market for a new QB too, I hear their guy isnt working out for them
The only team that would even consider Chad would be Arizona, since Warner is out for at least 2 to 3 weeks.
Yeah, that was in the September 1974 game which the Bills won 16-12 without completing a pass. That was the last time an NFL team won a game without completing a pass. The Jets completed two passes in defeat with both coming in the final two minutes.
