i think firing mangini is a bit drastic. aside from his reluctance to switch the QB from the noodle armed beaten guy to the young gun, and his staunch 3-4 scheme thinking even though we dont have the personel for it, i like him.

tanny needs to pull the thumb from his ass in the offseason and make some moves to improve the team in a big way. i know this is just year 2, and they are still building...but this offseason will be key for this FO/CS. year 3 is a do or die year for most staffs...and if this team isnt on the cusp of contending by opening day in 08 management will have to take a cold hard look at whos in charge.

actually, you can. Pennington's play hasn't been any different the entire season and a lot of people could identify that, so why can't Mangini? how many times does Chad have o fail before Mangini knows he can't succeed. this isn't just five games, it is hundreds of offensive plays that have not worked.

we should seriously try to get parcells out of retirement if we continue to decline this year, this is awful as a coach it is ur responsibility to put players in to make plays to win games, how the fuck can we win games when it is too windy for our qb to throw the ball, another waste of 20$ goin to the bar

agreed, but u cant fault mangini for not taking pennington out, hes been the face of the ny jets for the last 6-7 years in exception of his missed time due to injury

good points... but if they don't see what they have in clemens THIS season and if clemens disappoints when he gets a full time job NEXT season... then jets really are in deep sh1t

like a lot of guys said, next week is the perfect game to put KC in vs the bengals defense... 10 games is a good scale to judge him on... if they don't like what they see, then take a QB in the draft (assuming it's a high pick, take brohm or that kid out of BC)

I was thinking about this today... When we were really bad under herm his last year our secondary was not so bad, kerry rhodes hadnt developed into who he is now.. But teams couldnt just pass on us left and right... Now our secondary is atrocious we can stop the run a lil but our secondary has no reason for being so disgusting... andre dyson is a bum.... we need a new db.. Just look on philly's last drive at the end of the first half, absoloutley horrendous.

we have too many other problems for this team to be serious contenders anyways, we'd go maybe 8-8 with really good qb play instead of 4-12, either way -no playoffs

It's not Tannenbaum's thumb that's up his ass, it's Bradway's. And that thumb has roots as big as a tree, it ain't going nowhere.

That's a pretty ridiculous post, all of it. Who has he thrown under the bus? He is sticking with a D that doesn't work and has been unwilling to make a change at QB. This does not make him a piece of shit. The team is bad, and they weren't great last season either, but he is a big reason why they made the playoffs. One season later they look like crap and you want to fire him? That's stupid.

It's not stupid to want to fire Mangini, but it's not reasonable. I think fans were delusional if they thought they could hang with the Patriots this year.

If you watched his presser, he threw the defense and OL under the bus, while defending Chad's play, again.....

The OL is playing MUCH better, and the D made two HUGE plays to give us a chance to tie.... And Mangini didn't hesitate to say, obviously not in as plain terms 'The offensive line sucks.. The defense sucks... That's why we lost'

Ni blame for the CS or QB... Of course not

I think firing Mangini is very drastic. People are saying we won't win another game, but outside of the Pats game, we have had a chance to win every game. The D is growing, the Offense is growing, Chad is the only reason we are losing. Once he is gone this week or next we'll we a couple of games to go 4-12 or 6-10.

The real question I have is if we beat the Bengals, does Chad still start until the Bye?????

This question would never come up if Mangini was doing his job and replacing a sputtering QB on a team that is losing games left and right because said QB is finished.

The fact that the Jets could beat the Bengals if the Bengals offense implodes next week and we might then be stuck watching Checkdown Chad for the rest of the season is just a further indictment of how poorly Mangini is making decisions at this point.

In fact, Belichik took the defensive play calling out of his hands halfway through his only season as coordinator with the Pats because the defensive veterans were bitching about the vanilla defense they were playing.
