How can you blame the OC when the head coach plays noodle arm? If you're the OC, you can't make an atom bomb without uranium.
Chad can throw the damn ball 50+ yards. However, he has to throw it 1 mile into the air just for it to get there. Look at Chad's screens its 5 yards....... don't put it that high in the air. The point of the screen if to get yards after catch but how can he get those yards if the balls takes 5 seconds to go 5 yards.... The defender is already there. Schottenheimer is fine. Lets hope for Clemens and see what he does.
I think it's a stubbornness thing. He won't get any more ready until he is in the game....especially practicing against our D.....
I don't care how good your driver is or how big your engine is if the governor only let's you go 40 mph your only going to go 40 mph. That is my metaphor for this situation. Guess who the governor is?
OK, whoa. Ummmm, 40 MPH means 40 yards, I think. The driver, lets see....Mangini? And engine....going out on a limb here, it's the team. So the governor is Chad Pennington. so, it's like "I don't care how good Eric Mangini is or how big(good) the team is if Chad Pennington can only throw 40 yards then you're only going to get a 40 yard pass maximum." Did I get it?
His play calling is fine...people expect like 50 yards a play, the team is struggling as a whole, get over it. Hackett's offense was soooooooo boring atleast its fun to see brad smith running double reverses to Cotchery. Hacket had a better O-line/RB and still blew.
Realistically a bomb for Chad right now is those 27 yard passes he throws to Cotchery a couple of times a game. That's just pathetic.
I don't think you ban fault Brian. He is limited by what he can do on offense. He makes some mistakes but I think he is a keeper. Changing the personnel would surely help on offense.
I think this kid can play in the NFL too, so it can only be Mangini. Why he cannot admit to himself that Chads arm is shot is totally beyond me, but he'd better do it soon. It won't fix all the issues on this team, but it will certainly fix one.
Seriously... Lost in all of this is WHY he refuses to bench Chad. Clemens obviously showe dthe ability against Balty to lead an NFL offense. So what exactly is the issue??
in my opinion, the issue is that Chad was voted a captain by his teammates, so obviously his peers respect him. Benching him could create some discomfort.
Ready to do what? Ready to win games? Let's face it. even when Clemens is ready to win games he is still going to lose games. He is effectively a rookie and will make mistakes regardless of how prepared he is, especially with a mediocre team surrounding him. He will have to struggle to come of age. Can't he struggle this year instead of next? Do we have to wait 2 seasons to be decent again?
The sneak was a bad call. The fade was a predictable call. And the failure to blitz on 3rd and 7 with McNabb inside his own 10 late in the 4th cost us a final chance at the ball. Bad play calling all around.
Maybe there is something to that, I don't know. I do, however, think the rest of the team would rally behind Clemens. I also think maybe Mangini still believes Pennington is the answer and thinks a couple wins before the bye could put the Jets in position to fight for the second wild card spot. We may not see Clemens until this team is dropped for an 8th time this year.
Still think this guy isn't a problem? Even the announcers this week were commenting on how terrible his play calling is/was!!! I repeat, he needs to go!
Depends... Did we have DRob, and Mosely at TE, and Harris as FB when we did it? (Thats another thing...Bender inactive, yet we have 4 worthless TE's on the roster....and wonder why we cant run the ball.)
No, but you cant run the ball, when the only time TJones lies up 7 yards deep is when he's going to get a handoff. Thats just stupidity.
Yesterday Chad said something like, "I can make any throw the coaching staff asks to me make". So? Fruuuuuunkis
