After watching his poor performance against the Gators tonight, I've decided I officially do not want us to even go near him in the draft. This guy can't get past the Gator's OLine whatsoever. He's been rendered obsolete. Furthermore, the Gators are probably the most elite competition in college football, so that definiately isn't reassuring.

I've never been impressed with Dorsey, plus he's a bad fit for the Jets 3-4.

Dorsey would be interesting if we would switch back to the 4-3. Him and D-Rob in the middle would be a nice pair of DTs. But since that's not going to happen, he would be a bad fit.

Problem is, if we switch back, we need another End, too. Cuz Ellis is the only guy on our Rooster, that is a good passrusher with his hand down.

In the 3-4 we have to get a NT and OLB

For the 4-3 we need an DT and DE

    not much difference there.

i know, but if we stick with Mangini, we will stick with the 3-4, so there?s not much difference after this season on what Defense we play, cuz we need 2 front seven studs, to make the Defense work.

I'd rather grab another lineman - defensive/offensive - or Darren McFadden. And, yes, it looks like we're headed in that direction

Well, we're not necessarly looking for anyone to "Get past an OL"... We're looking for a Brick Wall that won't allow the OL past him.

Now I don't know for sure if Dorsey is a 3-4 NT...

But, lets look again at some games and what he can do about controlling the point of attack.

Have you watched any LSU games? The guy is all over the place. The Florida o-line did a pretty good job handling him, but in the 4th quarter he started to dominate them. He is a lot like Tommy Harris of the Bears. A defensive tackle that can stop the run in the backfield and rush the passer.

    He's perfect for the 3-4.

    EDIT: I meant 4-3.

not at NT. hes got D-Rob written all over him if he goes to NT.

this guy is best suited as a 4-3 DT. and i wouldnt want to spend the high draft pick on him anyways. only way id draft him is if he could be had afer 20(not possible) and hed play DE in the 3-4 if he had to anyways.

Total hypothetical, but if the Jets had D-Rob and Glenn Dorsey as the DEs in the 3-4, would / could that work? Seems like both, with there size and athleticism would be able to hold the point of attack but still be able to make plays.

Wow...I didn't even notice that when I typed it earlier. I meant 4-3. Thanks for pointing that out man. There is no way Dorsey could be successful in the 3-4. He'd fit perfectly into Tampa Bay's defense.

I watch more College football than you can imagine. I'm not overally impressed with Dorsey, he makes some plays and than is silent for long streches. Dorsey will probably a good 4-3 DT in the NFL, I don't expect him to be a stud in the NFL.
