Does anyone know how many years left on his contract and bonus stuff. Never mind benching him, I want to know if we can cut him in the off-season and find someone better to compete with Clemens. I do not want him on the team anymore. HE IS DONE!!!!!!!!

I don't know his contract details but I believe he is due for a large bonus in June.

Based on what? Pennington never won the job outright from Testaverde until it was blatantly obvious that the team needed a spark and Herm needed an ace up his sleeve. We are sort of in the same predicament now.

    From Cimini's column today

Naturally, the biggest question involves Pennington. If he gets benched, and if Kellen Clemens shows he's capable of leading the Jets into the future, Pennington almost certainly will be traded. (A certain coach in Kansas City might want him, don't you think?) It would be too awkward to keep him around as a backup, and it wouldn't make fiscal sense, either. Pennington is due to make $4.8 million in 2008, and he will count $7.8 million on the salary cap. If they trade Pennington, the Jets would take a $6 million cap hit, realizing a net savings of $1.8 million. In other words, he's very tradeable.

Cimini makes good points that I'm sure our FO is considering. Wait. Maybe they aren't considering them at all. Well, what ever the fuck the front office is doing, one thing I know is that they are indirectly putting the owner of my local liquor store's kids through college.

    Slainte!

Chad hardly even played in the pre-season. you can argue he must have out performed him in training camp and won the job, but with the way Mangini has turned a blind eye to Chad's awful performances this year, it is obvious that he always intended to start Chad, no matter what, and his role as the starting QB wasn't won due to performance but simply the coaches preference.

Clemens was raved about in the preseason.

He didn't even win the job this preseason or TC... Mangini anointed him the starter last winter.... That was the first, of what now is many, bad decisions Mangini made as the HC of the NYJ

I personally was on board with that decision as a huge fan of Pennington would be, but now I wonder if Mangini is just trying to save face by sticking with Chad. Sheesh, 1-4 has to be the precipice of something big though.

It bothered me, not because I don't like Chad, but because one of my favorite things about how Mangini ran the team was his mantra:

    The Best Player Plays

And by anointing Chad in winter, seemingly trying to avoid any media chatter about Clemens, he completely abandoned that mindset

despite all the "rebuilding" rationalization that members are throwing around to justify the disaster that is this season, it is clear Mangini was more interested in winning now, which ironically has cost the Jets wins and has also set back the development of a young player on the team in a key position whose performance is going to directly affect future wins and losses. with one desperate act to show his genius moniker was deserving, Mangini has set this team further back and destroyed the allusion of his abilities. serves him right.

its true, herm didnt like pree 2002 chad bc he felt like he overanalyzed the plays too much and didnt go out there and just play, if vinny didnt suckaverde chad might have never been in the position to get injured and lose all his arm strength, and maybe we would be the ones with a dynasty..... then again if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle

I told my parents I wanna watch for X-mas...so they let me...meanwhile back at the trailer park. I once dated this girl with backtearia...yeah her eyes were so crossed when she cried tears rolled down her back...then again if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle...this mexican guy walks into a bar with a parrot on his shoulder and the bartender says," Wow where'd ya get that ?" The parrot replied, " There all over Mexico." Sorry just using your qoute in a zone. OK sayin we woulda had a dynasty is wishful thinkin. I hope the front office makes a decision to trade Chad because quite frankly it aint workin.
