Are you kidding? This team wouldn't win 10 this year if Namaths arm was transplanted onto Montana in his prime and QB'd this team. The defense is pathetic.
From reading various articles Mangini refuses to assign blame to one player. One of the original links I posted said he blamed CP for 1 of the 3 interceptions... so the receivers were to blame on the others? I don't get it.
I don't get it either. And he needs to stop looking at the glass as half full. I'm tired of hearing about how "I'm happy with some of the things we did". Thats BS. The Defense is complete crap. Someone needs to acknowledge the white elephant in the livingroom.
He said in the papers Chad is the man and as I said in other posts I don't think he will make the change anytime soon. Well, look at it this way we will move up on the draft pick chart.
Uh, no we don't. We want Clemens in there for a couple of reasons. The first of which is to get the kid reps in actual games at NFL speed so he has some sort of comfort level for next year. Second, is to see what we have at QB -- questions like "Does this kid have it? "Is he right for our system?", etc...can be answered. Third, Clemens can start the transition from Chad to himself as the leader. Once he gets reps in games he can take on the role as the team leader, which is important. While Chad is still around, he can tutor KC at in-game situations. Regardless of the stupid decisions Chad makes, he is an intelligent quarterback and has vast knowledge he can lend Clemens as Clemens errs in games.
they r ganna let him play vs philly, if he sucks he's out....mangini's unwillingness to replace chad is bc what chad has given to this team, wrong or right mangini knows the sacrafice chad has given and some things are deeper then wins and losses
I'm really surprised by his stubborn attitude with changing to a 4/3 and the QB. He seems to think he is beyond being questioned. I'm really dissapointed in his decisions so far this year. Maybe last year was just an aberration due to the weak schedule.
Deer in the headlights I think. The Belichik-Spygate Fiasco was a huge distraction and then immediately on the heels of that his starting QB goes south and looks like he's cooked. Now throw in the slightly swelled head that last year gave him and you have a perfect recipe for paralyzed coach having issues just tying his shoelaces. I hope he pulls out of the downward spiral and rights himself and the Jets but as a long term Jet's fan I have my doubts.
No, that's just what you think they think, and you're probably wrong for the most part. I think most people understand that, the sooner Clemens starts this season, the sooner we can find out if they can be a winning football team under Clemens. Because it is a complete waste of time to have Chad in there. The season is a wash, and starting Pennington gets us nothing but boring football games at this point because we are not going to come back from 1-4 with the state of our defense. Might as well learn how well that 2nd round trade-up last year worked out. I personally expected Pennington to falter this season and for Clemens to come in around week 8, and still won't be surprised to see that happen, so I am not outraged about Mangini's announcement... maybe he thinks that the line will benefit from having Chad's presence for a few more games. I'm not sure I would agree with that after the past 2 weeks.
Nothing is deeper than your paycheck and Mangini is putting his on the line right now with the 3-4 and Chad/Clemens issues. Something has to give or he'll be the casualty.
i disagree, we can go 1-15 and mangini wont be fired, i think they will give him at least 2 more years to get his players in his system, then if he continues to be unsuccessful then a change may be made...james madison, who was the most important founding father, said the most important thing for this country to thrive is STABILLITY, same thing applies to football teams
I agree with this completely...and this is where I lose it with Mangini.... I guess it's a fne line between keeping the team engaged or losing everyone.....seems to me he's either afraid of losing the team with the whole wait til next year approach only 5 games in.......or he's just being stubborn to exhibit "stability" either way........and honest assesment of this team from anyone within the organization can see they are not going anywhere.......it's time to end the Chad era before, like some other have posted, he becomes the fan's proverbial pinata, if he's not already... let's see what the kid has at QB, and maybe,, just maybe, the rest of the team will perk up a little..becuase right now with the exception of Leon's returns and a few nice plays by the receiving corp......there's nothing good to say about this team whatsoever
This could be a statement by Mangini of his loyalty to the players. The guy is very young and by sticking with Chad through a rough spot or two he may be sending a message that as tough as we are we stand by our players. This is just a matter of time and whether it's this week or after the bye really doesn't make much of a difference in Clemens development.
are u kidding me? if we had namaths arm in montana wew'd basically have peyton manning, if we had peyton we wouild win 12, he would open the run game, controll the clock and use our great recievers, ultimately it would lead to better defense because a. they wouldnt be on the field as much b. they would be playing with a lead, whihc makes other teams 1 dimensional c. they would play with a lot more fire bc they know if they get off the field they have a qb who can score pts in bunches
