Abraham was on pace to be a rookie of the year candidate when he got his sports hernia under Groh, I disagree that he was a bad fit for the 3-4, talent-wise. And I remember him specifically lining up in a 2-point stance during a few of his sacks that year.
Yes he was, but that was primarily being a 3rd down pass rusher in a 4 down linemen nickel scheme. He was rarely in when we were playing the 3-4
Groh did do some switching with the schemes but I remember a lot of 3-4 in the first half of the season.
Well, the Jets base defense was a 3-4 in 2000. linemen- Lyle, Ferguson, Burton linebackers- Lewis, Cox, Jones, Phifer
It is actually pathetic that you've been a fan of the Jets for 35 years and know so little about football. Honestly, stop watching, you don;t have a fucking clue. Don't bring up the D? Are you god damn kidding me? Please cheer for another team, please, stop being a Jets fan, or at least don't tell people you're a Jets fan because you'll make us all look stupid. Cheer for the Bears, they have/had a big-armed QB, and look what he's doing tonight. He needs a fan to suck him off over his arm strength while he sits on his ass on the bench and you're the perfect candidate.
you don't need to have a rocket arm to QB in the NFL and I never implied that you did. So don't misconstrue my words and imply that we need a guy with a canon of an arm to win. Second point as for the defense, CP has 5 interceptions in the last two weeks. Of course the defense get demoralized and tired for being out there with his turnovers. If you take away his interceptions that have turned into points I suggest that the defense although not a strong point is not the reason we are loosing. As for having a clue about football anybody with knowledge of the game will realize that our run game is mitigated because of how many men in the box the defense is putting on the line of scrimmage. If you look at the last couple of years there is hardly any running lanes and yes it is part of the line deficiency but a good part of it is a function of the gigs up with Chads game plan. If you read my earlier post I said I wouldn't talk about Chad and I don't intend to. However the moderator merged some of my threads. Any fan has the right to vent and be frustrated at how their team is playing. Many of us watch and know what to expect week after week. You can't blame the defense for the 5 Interceptions, a few in the red zone that were costly turnovers. If you think the Jets will win with Chad at the helm then that is your right as a fan. I think most professional analysts at this point have stated the obvious about Chad and his struggles. Not many people have come back from rotator cuff surgery let alone 2. Bert Jones used to have a fantastic arm and once he had the surgery his career was over. I said I want to move on and talk about rebuilding the D line in the draft as I do realize it is a week spot but you can't blame the defense because if you look at the scores the points have been under 30 for most of the games and they include the points caused by the interceptions.
the problem with waiting to play KC Eric said CP will be the starting QB next sunday and I don't see him deviating from that plan for the rest of the season. Here is the problem with not playing KC. How do we know what we have in him if he doesn't play? We can all agree this season is shot so wouldn't it be best to see what we have with the kid? If he looks terrible in the next 8 games; I mean his technique stinks, can't read defenses etc then we know we will need to draft a QB in the draft. Now I'm not saying he is going to make an impact on our won loss record but I do think it is important that we vet out the kid and see what we have. I'm sure that after 10 games of playing Mangini could make a valid decision if he has the goods to be an NFL QB. I think by procrastinating in making the QB change we are just making it more difficult for the evaluation of KC to be made before the draft.
That is fucking unbelievable. I can't believe that they won't put in KC this week. We are the stupidist team out there, always making the wrong decisions. Man, I thought this year would be a good year, what a friggen joke. I live in FL, and my wife got me 2 tickets to go see the Jets play the Steelers in November for my B-day in July. Back in July I was so excited, now I can't even give the tickets away.
With 2 of 4 division winners practically a lock (NE and Indy) and Pittsburgh looking strong in the North only the West is up for grabs it seems. That being said the 2 wildcard teams could come from any division except ours pretty much. No excuse for us to keep Chad as our starter at this point other than obstinance.
