I believe he was listed as Questionable against both the Dolphins and the Bills. There is no report that he will not start today.
I'm not a big Pennington fan but this is how I see this game. If he does play there will be less blitzing because they know how good he is on completing short passes. If he doesn't then there will be a ton of blitzes. We probably have a better chance with him in there then we do if he is not. Not that the chances are great either way. To beat them we have to be able to run the ball and stop bot Umenyiora and Strahan playing them straight up, neither of which do I think we can do.
I think we can still win at least 8 more games with Chad. I think he should play the entire year, and if he fails to get us into the playoffs this, then yes, we should start Clemens next season. We can't give up on him, especially when it isn't entirely his fault our offense is inept.
2 Shoulder surgeries a less than adequate NFL arm and terrible decission making in big spots, why can't we give up on him? This is year 8 and the ceiling seems to have been reached 5 years ago.
Even when it's not an educated one apparently....that's not a knock on you dwalsh....but you know what I mean.
I hope Clemens plays. That should fix our shitty defense. I mean, the man can rush the passer like nobodys business. Seriously, I am behind a move to Clemens, but if anything thinks that will put this team on the winning path, you are deluding yourself. The defense is holding this team back a hell of a lot more then Pennington.
Only reason they will play Clemens is they are gonna need somebody to get out of trouble in a hurry with the sorry ass line we got
ohhhh, I see, one game (third game of the season) where he makes some rare interceptions and Chad makes bad decisions all the time? Give me a break. That is a false statement. Chad makes some great decisions on the fly 90% of the time. I am ok with starting Chad for the rest of the year, or until he proves that he is the reason the offense is losing the games for us. After that I will support Kellen IF he proves that he deserves that support. Chad has proved that to me many many times.
No doubt the D is costing us games however every year the Jets made the playoffs the O was at best middle of the NFL pack in scoring. It was the years our D stepped up that we made the playoffs. That said it's time to upgrade the QB position and see if it will help our team put more points on the board while we build the D.
From what I recall from last weeks game, Chad didn't injury his ankle again, and I heard anything all week about him maybe injuring it in practice. I think this may be a hint that Mangini wants to see Clemens? I don't know. I want Chad out there today, but we'll see come game time.
Ok, assuming this is true, we have noone to upgrade the QB position with currently. So why does this debate continue to rage? Penny is starting still because the Jets can't find anyone better than he is. Maybe that will change in the off season, probably not, as no rookie will be better than Penny his first year. Clem is not better than Penny in anything except arm strength. QB is not the problem here. It just isn't.
