from an article on New York Jets.com about the giants pass rush and our O-line.

?It makes you buckle your chin strap a little bit tighter," said C Nick Mangold, "knowing they have that kind of pass rush.?

i know this is a pretty insignificant topic, but this really jumped out at me especially. not the kind of things Id want my players to say. or even think. wtf is that.

You guys tend to make waaaaaaaay to much out of these quotes from players. He's just simply showing some respect for their defense and admitting it is going to be a tough job defending against them. Not really news worthy.

the message could have gone on as .....

“It makes you buckle your chin strap a little bit tighter," said C Nick Mangold, "knowing they have that kind of pass rush, and we're a poxy 1-3"

What would you prefer? Him saying "we're not that impressed, it was one week against a hurting Eagles team". Sure, let's just give the Giants some bulletin board material to get them even MORE motivated for this game.

Hopefully Ward gave the Jets some when he said earlier this week that the Giants were in the penthouse and the Jets were in the basement in relation to them both playing in the same stadium. I would be a little pissed off at that if I was a Jets' player.

nah i dont ever care about the quotes. the only one ive commented on was thomas jones about last week.

other than that what coles says is natural, he hates busting his balls in the summer. most players do.

The quote doesn't make much sense to me. Why would the center buckle his chin strap tighter for a great pass rush? The only person that would need to do that would the QB wouldn't it?

I thought I read a quote from Pennington earlier in the week saying the same exact thing. Is Mangold just repeating what Penny said or are they all giving a prepared statement issued by the coaching staff?

Exactly if the pass rush is really tough all Mangold has to do is step out of the way.

I get what you're implying but offensive linemen aren't usually taking big hits from pass rushers unless maybe it's a linebacker trying to blow through them with a running start. The jints do it mostly with their front 4.

It's just a figure of speech. Kind of like "bring a lunch because you're going to fight all day" sort of thing.

This is retarded...He basically said that he was going to be ready for the game. What do you want him to say?

"Yeah, the Giants suck...im gonna loosen my chinstrap."

    This board really blows nuts...
