A couple TERRIBLE calls already. This is really the best umpiring crew they could come up with?

    4-0.

Some throw in from the Beckett trade finally started pulling his weight...

As much as I love Lowell, if the Sox can get Arod, I'll carry Mike's bags to the plane.

Absolutely filthy pitch to end the top of the 8th. Beckett is probably done for the night, but he was completely dominant tonight. He was exactly what an ace should be.

Ellsbury in for defense for Manny, and it pays off right away. Great catch, 2 outs away.

And it's over! Sox lead 1-0 behind 2007 AL Cy Young winner Josh Beckett's 4 hit shutout!

    9 IP, 4 H, 8 K, 0 BB.

So Beckett adds to his already impressive postseason legacy with his third career playoff shutout.

You're right. He sucks in the playoffs.

Captain Cheeseburger - AL Cy Young.

    Beckett 20-7 3.27 ERA 1 CG 200.2 IP 194 K's
    C.C. - 19-7 3.21 ERA 4 CG 241 IP 209 K's

    CC - Cy

But Beckett has been money this season.

I'm not exactly sure why Beckett has been handed the Cy Young Award already. Sabathia was an absolute workhorse this year and had better numbers. Are we not giving him credit for pitching 20% more innings than Josh while being as good, if not better? That's significant.

    Boston > Cleveland

Not to mention Beckett missed 3 starts so it could of been 21-22 wins, 200+ Ks, and only around 20 more innings.

So you're going to discredit Sabathia for pitching MORE?

Yep, 34 starts and only 19 wins vs Beckett's 30 starts and 20 wins and Beckett can easily get 15+ Ks in 4 games.
