Mussina will start game 4. The only way Hughes gets a start is if Rocket cant go then Moose gets game 3 and Hughes game 4
What high powered offense? Did they buy one since the end of the season? We outscored them 45-18 during the regular season.
No and I can't find it anywhere. The only think I know for sure is Bruney isn't on it and wasn't very happy about it.
Bruney is gone and Ohlendorf is in. Torre said rookie Ross Ohlendorf, who made his major league debut Sept. 11, could be an option for the division series roster. The Princeton product had a 2.84 ERA in six relief appearances, striking out nine and walking two. "He's only been relieving for two months. His stuff certainly indicates that that could be his future," Torre said. "We're going to go with kids, anyway. As far as the hesitancy, he's going to have some company, whatever our decision is." Torre said seven pitchers were sent home after Sunday's regular-season finale: Brian Bruney, Tyler Clippard, Igawa, Jeff Karstens, Henn, Matt DeSalvo and Chase Wright.
So that leaves Chamberlain, Farnsworth, Hughes, Kennedy, Ramirez, Veras, Villone(ugh), Rivera and Vizcaino in the pen. I wonder if Hughes or Kennedy would get the long relief role. Hughes starts off slow so it may be Kennedy.
From the Ny Post: How far did Brian Bruney fall? A year ago, he pitched in three of the four ALDS games. Yesterday, the Yankees told him to go home, opting to not include the right-handed reliever around like they did with Ross Ohlendorf, Chris Britton and Jose Veras. “I was shocked,” Bruney said.
Back issues. Ian Kennedy, who hasn't pitched since Sept. 13 because of a strained back muscle, was headed to Tampa on Monday and will have a bullpen session later this week. Kennedy will leave to attend his wedding Saturday in Missouri, then return to Florida. Torre said he could be available for the AL Championship Series
Oh yeah, I did know about his back now that I think about it. Didn't know it was so bad that it required rehab though. After his wedding it will probably only be worse..hehe.
Fans like you have been playing the same violin for over 70 years now. I'd tell you us Yankee fans don't give a shit but I'd be lying. Frankly, we find it amusing.
Whatever. We still hate you and enjoy watching you blow up in the playoffs. Considering you've fucked up the entire sport for about 25 of the teams, that's about all a lot of people have to root for.
Okay, I've been relatively quiet the past few days, but this I have to say something about. Exactly how did the Yankees ruin the sport for 25 other teams? Was it the ridiculous revenue generated for the league by them being on FOX every weekend for years? Was it the huge luxury tax that basically pays to keep teams like the Royals in business? Was it the fact that whatever city they've played in for the past decade, no matter if the regular attendance is 15,000, they sell out the entire series without exception, in some cases more than three times the normal attendance? Sorry, but this bullshit that somehow the Yankees ruined the sport for anyone is just that, bullshit. The Yankees have helped baseball become popular again in the post-strike era, and the organization has basically funded the idiotic expansion of an already watered down league. You can hate the Yankees all you want, but don't pull this crap that they've "ruined the sport" for anyone. The facts are quite the contrary.
Ruined the sport? It's the Yankees fault no one goes to games in Pittsburgh and Florida, who's won 2 W/S in 10 years? And aren't you a Dodgers fan? The team in the second largest city? the team that hired Grady Little? The team that gave away Pedro & Piazza... the team that broke the $100 million ceiling by signing the loser Kevin Brown? I guess all that was the Yankees fault to...
The sport is popular in a few places, New York, Boston, St. Louis, LA, Chicago, that's about it. Go to some cities that used to be great baseball markets and they've practically been run out of the business. Kansas City was a great franchise in the 70s and 80s, so was Pittsburgh, now they are basically farm clubs who develop players for the Yankees and Boston. The luxury tax is a small help but not much. The TV networks only care about the big TV markets, so yes they are making money, good for them. That's why their "national" games every week are always the Mets or the Yankees. Great. Go ask any fan in Cincinnati or Kansas City how interested they are in baseball except to see the Yankess and their $200 million payroll go down in flames. Sadly, a lot of them probably don't even care about that anymore.
And the only team with the stupidity and the money to take him off our hands was the Yankees. Thanks for that, by the way. Yes, the Dodgers were guilty of it for a while about 8-9 years ago, then they cut it back so the payroll would get back in line. Trading Pedro and Piazza were both horrible moves, but I don't see how that is relevant to this topic. Grady Little has actually done a good job, I'm glad those retards in Boston ran him out of there. Their loss is our gain.
Sorry man but dont blame the Yankees for any other teams fans for not caring about their teams anymore because they dont put a competitive team on the field anymore. Blame the owners of those teams that takes the money that Yankees give them (from that 200 mil payroll) and put that into their own pockets instead of into their teams.
How many teams can you say can win the AL easily every year? 2 maybe 3 because of the Yankees high payroll(BOS, NYY, & ANA). Only in a few occasions that a team comes out of no where to get in the WS only to drop like a rock the following year.(CHI & DET) The NL has parity but doesn't have the star power as shown as the NLCS is on cable and the ALCS is on Network TV.
