Playoff time folks! Here are the probables (all times eastern and on TBS) Game 1 (Thursday 10/4): @ Cleveland, Wang vs. Sabathia, 6:30 PM Game 2 (Friday, 10/5): @ Cleveland, Pettitte vs. Carmona, 5 PM Game 3 (Sunday, 10/7): @ New York, Clemens vs. Westbrook, 6:30 PM *Game 4 (Monday, 10/8): @ New York, Mussina vs. Byrd, 6 PM *Game 5 (Wednesday, 10/10): @ Cleveland, TBA vs. TBA, 5 PM *If needed
I am very happy that I have no soccer games (I play for my school) on days that the Yanks play!
Dammit. We have the short series. I don't want to see Mussina, but I guess it's better that we see Byrd rather than Carmona a second time.
My friend's family and I get tickets to all the playoff games under our plan. I'll be going to Clemens vs. Westbrook on Sunday night.
Im definitely glad that we will see Byrd as well (of course saying that he will probably do great:smile: ). Although Mussina has pitched well lately I bet he will either pitch great or make like Tom Glavine today. Im hoping we can win one of the first two, and then win games 3 and 4 at home!
Hmm, that would be interesting. Just in case any one was wondering these probables are off the Yankees website
Mussina is going to get wooped if he pitches vs. the indians high powered offense. Hughes has proved to dominate that lineup before this year, Mussina hasn't.
I can't believe Boston gave us a gift of the 7 day series. Everyone expected them to want it because they believe their 3rd and 4th pitchers are better then anyone else's. Or they did anyway. Giving us the 7 day series means the worst we can do is see Sabathia twice and Carmona once on normal rest. Of course it won't be as big a benefit if Clemens can't pitch or be effective. I like our chances if we can get a split in the first two. I would still rather see Pettitte pitch game 1 and Wang game 2. Not sure we will do anything against Sabathia which means game 2 will be a must win. So, Mussina was named over Hughes as the game 4 starter. Not sure that was wise unless he will be on a very short leash.
