Was about the most embarassing thing I have seen in 23 years as a Jets fan. Can someone please explain to Pennington that he needs to throw the ball further than 5 yards for it to work?
Honestly, if I'm a Jets receiver (namely Leon Washington), and Chad goes to me when we have less than a minute left and 1 TO, and I'm at the LOS or 1 yard beyond it, I'm batting that ball down, and saving the time... Chad's strong point has always been his head, but he's so limited physically no that it's gotten the better of his decision making..... I'm sorry, but a 1 yard pass over the middle when the DBs are sitting on it is NOT a smart play in a 2 minute offense...
I had a problem with the lack of urgency. We could have saved 10+ seconds if this team just hurried to the line and got another play off.
And just think how we all used to blame Hackett and Herm for the idiotic playcalling in these type of situations. The fact is when you have a QB that cannot put any mustard on his passes you're forced to limit your playcalling.
You're kidding, right? We were gaining 8-10 yds at a clip, and if he makes one more decent pass, we have the FG attempt. The problem? Wasting 1 TO on offense and another on DEFENSE
8-10 yards at a clip? That final drive, we ran 8 plays for 35 yards.... And took 1:37 off the clock... That was one of the most poorly executed 2-min drills I've ever seen... Play-by-play... New York Jets at 01:43 1-10-NYJ 26 (1:43) C.Pennington pass short middle to 89-J.Cotchery to NYJ 37 for 11 yards- Caught at NYJ 30 1-10-NYJ 37 (1:23) C.Pennington pass short right to 29-L.Washington to NYJ 41 for 4 yards. Caught in flat at NYJ 35. 2-6-NYJ 41 (1:02) C.Pennington pass short left to 87-L.Coles to NYJ 43 for 2 yards. Caught along sideline at NYJ 43. 3-4-NYJ 43 37) C.Pennington pass short left to 29-L.Washington to NYJ 44 for 1 yard. Screen, caught at NYJ 42. Timeout #3 by NYJ at 00:27. 4-3-NYJ 44 27) C.Pennington pass short right to 86-C.Baker pushed ob at 50 for 6 yards . Caught near sideline at NYJ 49. 1-10- 50 21) C.Pennington pass incomplete short left to 20-T.Jones. Underthrown, receiver in flat at BUF 48. 2-10- 50 17) C.Pennington pass short right to 89-J.Cotchery ran ob at BUF 39 for 11 yards. Caught along sideline at BUF 45. 1-10-BUF 39 11) C.Pennington pass short right intended for 81-J.McCareins INTERCEPTED by 24-T.McGee at BUF 31. \ --So he completed two for more than 6 yards..... And of the two 11 yard completions, one was thrown 4 yards with 7 YAC yards, and the other was thrown 5 yards with 6 YAC yards....
Well, no. Here are the gains on the drive: 11 (7 after catch), 4 (6 after catch), 2 (0 after catch), 1 (2 after catch), 6 (1 after catch), 0 (incomplete), 11 (6 after catch), interception. Even before the interception, that's 7 plays, with only 2 gaining more than 6 yards, hardly "8-10 yds at a clip." And, of course, of the 35 yards covered before the last play, 22 were after the catch (which takes up more time). Pennington did not complete a single pass more than 5 yards past the line of scrimmage in the entire drive of 8 plays, which IMO is completely pathetic.
 Same exact post I made..... Seems like Jetsin2004's argument was pretty easy to defeat... EDIT: Additionally, I looked it up, and Chad completed 5 passes that went over 10 yards in the air for the game...That means he completed 27 dump offs in one game... That's ridiculous....
your posts are simply unreadable. Im sure youre a nice guy and your family loves you and all that happy horse shit.....but football really isnt your thing.....8-10 yards at a clip??? what in gods name are you talking about
Yeah... Tell me about it.... I knew it had to be a huge number, because the passing game was so terrible today, but when I looked it up, it was just UGLY.... Honestly, when you see 27 attempts that gain fewer than 10 yards, and 5 that gain more than ten yards, the average fan thinks-- That's a running back's numbers, right? The way I see it, we have no passing game... We have a safe running game with Jones, and a risky running game with Chad...
I would have liked to see some more throws down the field. Cotch seemed to have some success, especially on the one drive, two 28yd receptions.
Hell, it felt like 60 to me! After passes that were caught at or behind the LOS all game long, when he dumped one over the middle for 6 or 7 yards, it felt like an offensive EXPLOSION!
