Dude, you don't need to keep repeating this. We all know it's being knocked down.

Of course I'm not blaming the Jets for the demolition call. Again, tell me something I don't know. Of course the Jets had no say over that, so I'm not blaming the Jets solely for the new stadium idea. The Giants are as much to blame (or more), as is the state of NJ. I think we're on the same page here, so please tell me where we aren't.

I never said building two stadiums is necessary. In fact, two separate stadiums is a ludicrous idea.

What I am saying is, between the Giants, the Jets and the state of NJ, everything got heated up when all this talk was in motion about the Giants wanting a new stadium, the Jets talking about the WSS and acting Governor Cody pleading with both sides to come together and build a new joint stadium. He never once suggested that the Giants consider giving up half ownership of the original stadium to the Jets (which they're obviously doing now anyway with the new stadium), and the Jets never asked for that either.

Not one of them ever considered the other option, which would have been to renovate what's already there, split the ownership, build the satellite "team oriented" thing-a-ma-jiggies and save the Jets, the Giants and both sets of season ticketholders a ton of money.

Now, the bottom line is, there's a good chance the season ticketholders will get the shaft in the form of PSLs. You seem to think I'm on the warpath against the Jets on this. I'm not. I blame all three for not taking one last logical step, which would have been to evaluate the option to renovate the building that's there now.

There is nothing new that comes from the construction of the new stadium, other than the fact that it will be new (big deal!). No retractable roof, not much more capacity, lousier views from the stands and not much more in the way of venues that can be brought there becasue it's not enclosed. The expenses for all the other "themed restaurants," gift shops and all the other cockamamie stuff is all still there, half of which most people who go to the games could give a shit about.

How do you know they didn't look into renovating Giants Stadium? They did add on to it in the 90s with that T-shaped structure on the press box side, apparently that didn't do the trick as far as adding the boxes and ammenities they wanted to create revenue. The rest I agree with you about, but I'm just answering your original question that you seemed perplexed to answer, as to why we "need" a new stadium from the Jets' perspective. It's because the one we play in isn't going to be there much longer.

If you ask me, the current stadium could stand for another 100 years and I'd be ok with it. The name and colors would always suck, but I don't have a single complaint about owning tickets or attending games there. You should go to Italy and see how old the stadiums are there that they pack people into for soccer games every weekend. Giants Stadium, by comparison, is shining and new.

It's really pretty simple. They can make more money with a new stadium then they can with the old one. They have the money to build it so they did (by that I don't mean they had the cash laying around but they have the financial resource to do it). End of story.

I think that's the bottom line. Both teams have milked the most they can out of ticketholders in terms of prices per seats and there's no way they could justify nailing us much more. Same thing with charging PSLs on the old stadium. Can't be done... way too greedy and obvious a move. So, if I'm both clubs, I'm asking myself "What can we do to make more money?"

Mara: "Hey, I know, Woody! We build a new stadium and then charge them up the whazzoo!"

Woody: "Good idea! I'm not rich enough. Thanks for the idea!"

Mara: "But no retractable roof, Woody. We're the NY Giants you know. Besides, they cost money."

Woody: "Oh, I'm with you on that. But we can give them some tinsel, you know, like a f*cked-up, cockamamie "theme restaurant" and gift shop. That'll generate more money!"

Mara: "Yeah, but these cheap tailgaters probably won't use the retauarants unless we crack down on the tailgating. I say we starve 'em enough and they'll be so hungry they'll go in and buy our $20 hamburgers."

Woody: Good idea! And what about PSLs?"

Mara: "Hey, everybody else it doing it, Woody... absolutely! Now that we're building this new, cockamamie stadium, we can justify doing whatever the hell we want! I say we crucify the little bastards!"

Woody: "Man... I'm so liking this. I can just see the cash flow now! the first ones I'm nailing are those stupid bastards in the Mezzanine Section. I've been getting away with 30% increases per year and the idiots keep coming back for more!"

Mara: "Way to go, Woody. NOW you're finally with the program!"

Woody: "And another thing I've got to hand it to you on... duking Cody under the table before Corzine took office was a brilliant move on your part. Especially since Corzine already has a lot of money and we had no way of knowing what he'd do. Getting to Cody was an excellent move!"

Mara: "Hey, what do I have to do, teach you everything, Woody? But hey, this is gonna be a real money-maker, especially since we're not making it much bigger and it won't have the roof. The construction costs are kept to a minimum but it gives the stupid fans the illusion of something expensive."

Woody: "The only thing I'm afraid of is, somebody's gonna ask why we need a new building, especially since it won't be able to be used for many more other venues than we're already using this one for. What about just making this one better?"

Mara, "Woody, haven't you listened to a God-damned word I've said? I thought you're for making more money at any cost, even if it's off the backs of the season ticketholders?"

Woody: "Well, yeah. That guy Bill Gates keeps popping up in Forbes showing more wealth than I have and it's really starting to piss me off."

Mara: "Well, there you go. Now, listen up, will ya? The reason we're building this new stadium has nothing to do with whether we need one or not. That doesn't matter. What matters is the bottom line. You're gonna catch that little twirp of a geek, Bill Gates, and I'm gonna help you!"

Woody: "Okay, yeah... I'm in. Now run it by me again about the restaurants and all? Are they really going to pay $20 for a hamburger?"

Mara: "You bet your ass they are! Hell, we've already got the price of a bottle of beer up to $8. We can milk them dry! But we've got to clamp down on this tailgating big time. The way we do that is to come up with more and more of these cockamamie "themed restaurants" and gift shops and who-the-hell knows what, all of which will take up TONS of parking area and eliminate tailgate areas. NOW you're got the little assholes where you want them... right in the palm of your hand. If they can't cook in the parking lot, they've got to come in and buy our $25 hamburgers and $14 beers... by the way, notice how I just increased the hamburger prices already?"

Woody: "I've got to hand it to you, pal. You really are a f*cking genius."

Mara: "That's right, Woody, and don't you forget it. Now go get that little punk, Bill Gates, and make him look like a pauper!"

It is really quite easy to figure out the exact days since we last one a SB championship. Just start on 01/13/69 & start computing the days. Oh BTW after this season we enter the 14,000 instead of the 13,000 where we are now

Funny I really wonder if you are a NYJ fan since you do not seem to think that we need any improvement any where & that every NYJ player is god like & should not be replaced so we can overtake the NEPs some year which to me translate that you are OK with just being pleased to watch a most medicore team function year after year.

What people post here has no effect on what the Jets do on the field, in the front office or otherwise.

Well sorry since I am aware of several who dropped there tixs to do other things saying the time invested like you mentioned is not worth the end return. I am also sure out there in the NYJ nation there are former fans that were turned off by there constant losing & decided because they like FB to transfer there rooting to another team. Also maybe the stadium is half full @ KO because the owners decided not to go & sold or gave away there tickets to others who are really to use your words "true diehard" NYJ fans who are more interested in partying then watching the game. Another option the late arrivals maybe have already discounted the game & really do not care because they know that the NYJs are not SB championship material this year so they take the ho hum attitude of who cares.

I know lot's of Jets fans. Family, friends......I've never heard of a case of a guy not being a Jets fan anymore because they haven't won a Super Bowl since 69. I've never heard of a case where a guy stops going to games because they don't think the Jets are going to win the Super Bowl. Going to Jets games is like a religion, people do it because that's what they've always done, not because their only motivation for going is watching a team that will win the Super Bowl. We WANT them to win the Super Bowl, but we have no control over that. I'm sure there are people that have given up tickets over the years, but that's no doubt because of the hassles involved in going to games, kids getting older and needing to devote time to their activities, financial reasons, moving out of state...........NOT because of the team itself.

In theory your post is dead on, but the truth of the matter is you can sell the rights to your tickets to the highest bidder, no? If paid $20,000 for the rights to those seats, there is a rich Jets fan out there that would give you $50,000 the very same day. Am I wrong that you can sell the rights to your tickets?

PSL`s should give the owner of that PSL exclusive rights to those seats for every event being held in front of his/her seat(s), minus the tickets to those events. Period! If it does not, then it is not a Personal Seating License. I don`t see how the Jets and Giants will be able to charge PSL`s and NOT give the owner rights to those seats. I have 4 seats and at $5,000 per seat x4 is $20,000. I will not even try to afford that cost unless I get exclusive rights to my 4 seats for every event being held at that venue. I`m sure the Giants fan who also paid for the same 4 seats will feel the same way.

The Jets/Giants want this new stadium. I do NOT. I didn`t ask for it and being a resident of NJ currently, I also do NOT want to pay the $160+ million that the current stadium is behind in. How can a stadium with 2 teams lose so much money over the past 31 years? Oh yeah, the NJSEA are well paid.

Anyway, the Jets and Giants have said they will chip in and build a new stadium together. So why can`t they use their own money to do it? They have it already and will easily make that money back within 10 years time without charging the fans a PSL fee or raising ticket prices. It will certainly generate more money than the current place. No roof though. That is NOT good for big business. That was the Giants decision though. I have no clue why they wouldn`t put a roof over it. Super Bowls alone would certainly raise their profits considerably. Probably 2 SB`s and the money made during them would easily offset their costs to build this new place. Let alone Final Fours, conventions of all sorts, concerts, soccer games and everything else. It would all go to the Jets and Giants and both fans wouldn`t need to shell out thousands up front.

I guess we`ll just have to wait and see what they decide to do. Until then, I will remain a season ticket holder.

The Only 2 I have first hand knowledge of are the Bengals and Panthers and neither one of those give the owner any rights other than to buy the Football tickets. Period!

And in the Case of the gints/jets is obviou s they will not also (if they go the PSL route)
