His team quit on him. Inexcusable.

    This is embarrassing.

There has to be somebody who didn't spend 99% of his career as a Yankee who can coach the most talented team in the NL without blowing it in an epic manner.

Randolph has ZERO credibility as a coach now. ZERO.

firing Willie would mean Omar would have to admit he made a mistake in hiring him. unfortunately, Omar has tried to hide this fact for too long and it has cost the Mets a season in which they had a legitimate chance at a World Series. at this point, the only way Omar can even remotely save face as the GM and VP of this team for this hire is to admit it in glorious fashion and fire him immediately before the seaosn actually is officially over. so, yes, I agree.

Willie didn't give up 32 runs to the Washington Nationals, he didn't fail to score a freaking run in the biggest game of the year either. I'd rather see the AAA team play these next 3 games than this pathetic team.

Fire Willie... I never really like him. He makes bad decisions and doesn't know how to fire up a team.
With the talent on this team, we should never have to go through something like this.
I want them to bring back Bobby V.

You guys are stupid....Willie didnt suck the past two weeks. There is no way in hell Willie should have to fire up the team at this point in the season. While I agree Willie can't in-game manage, however lets see what happens the next three days.

I dont see quiting, I just see a bad team. Even if this team makes the playoffs, which I would give a 4 to 1 shot right now, they have NO shot to get any further than the NLDS

One more thing....YOU DONT QUIT WHEN YOU'RE STILL IN IT. Even if you arent playing for your manager when you're in the race you play for yourself, anyone who has ever played a sport would know this. You're in it, give it your all. If you're out of it, then you give up

Honestly I think the problem lies deeper than Willie. I'm saying Omar and Willie both have to go.

well, if Willie can't make them play better, what's the point of keeping him? if he is irrelevant to the performance of the team, just get rid of him because he is inherently unneccessary.

Omar is partially to blame. he brought in good players his first two years, than completely overvalued what he had going in to this season and actually made the team worse. as far as I am concerned, he has only had 1 bad year out of three, so Omar can stay. Willie hasn't ben good for all three, so he has to, and most likely, will be fired. but if Omar refuses to do so because it will mean he will have to admit it was a mistake to hire him in the first place, then Omar needs to be fired as well.

When do the players ever take responsibilty? Why is it always the coach/Mgr's fault?

Bobby V would have gotten to 95, Maybe 100 wins, with this team as currently constituted.

    And

Bobby V would have started rattling cages, when they got swept by Philly 3 weeks ago.

Not a Met fan here but isn't it really the bullpen that has caused most of the problems and trading away some of the good relievers they had last year?

Willie has blown several games simply by refusing to bring the closer in, in a closing situation (facing 3-6 in the eighth inning) so that Wagner can get a save by pitching the ninth (theoretically facing the bottom of the order...).
