I usually agree with RT but I think he is just looking for something to complain about in this case. Granted I think more could have been done. I really thought they were going to retire his jersey and if they were gonna have a Wayne Chrebet day that's what they should have done. I'm not saying he deserved to have his jersey retired though. Where I have a problem with the tix is Wayne has a family of 4 and they only gave him 2 tickets. Free tickets are free tickets and yes it was sponsored by Delta so the Jets didn't actually go out and purchase them It's Delta who the anger should be geared towards but hey they just came out of bankruptcy so give em a break. The picture is cool I got one from the minor league team I worked for and it's great in a game room or TV room. I didn't realize the watch was that expensive and I'm sure teh Jets got that through a sponser but working in the business I am in know that the sponsor didn't just hand it to the Jets. As for the framed jersey..... If Wayne doesn't want it it'd look great on the wall in my son's room.
Don't you think Wayne had some say it what he wanted for his retirement? He has his own resturant. He has the cars he wants. So maybe he got the plane for someone esle. Who knows? I know for a fact that most retirement gifts are standard gifts. And the person who is getting retired has some say in what he or she wants as a parting gift.
It would probably look good in a restaurant that had memorabilia hanging on the walls too. Well, if you owned something like that I mean :wink:
I have to side with Royal Tee on this one. I was at the game and witnessed the entire presentation. Honestly, I wish they had just honored him with the very kind words and let it go at that. Not only did Woody and the other staff speak, they had others, like Boomer Esiason and Chad, deliver very heartwarming accolades on the giant screen, coupled with scenes of Chrebet's best moments on the field. Perhaps they could have presented the framed jersey and either let the other stuff go or give it to him in the locker room. Airline tickets! BFD... I can get those free with accumulated air miles. Not very classy, whoever came up with that idea.
I was more annoyed by those gigantic and obnoxious Sprint boards on the field between the tunnel and midfield that they put up for the ceremony
And then they were starting to take them down even before they were done with the ceremony. Kind of distracting.
Yeah, what was with those Sprint boards? Ugly shade of yellow too. Christ, nothing is sacred anymore... everything has to be commercialized to the fullest. Maybe they should have made Chrebet wear a big yellow Sprint jersey too.

Woody stopped caring about this team as soon as the WSS fell through. That was his cash cow from day one. Every year that passes that the Jets aren't moved to LA should be gravy for the fans.

most nfl teams are at or around the cap limit, or planning strategic cap moves via targeting potential free agents, we could've paid kendall, we couldve got moss and had the best recieving core in the league and not let the pats have him, we couldve went after adalius thomas and get that edge rusher to complament bryan thoms, but instead we get kenyon colemen and darian barnes, cheap bastard, in this league a gm needs an open checkbook
How exactly is Woody cheap? He upgraed the meadolands LR spending a mil, he had the highest payrol ion the league in 2002, the dcisions to spen or not to spen are on the GM and HC.
