Against the Washington Nationals, the Mets gave up 13, 10, and 9 runs. They have allowed less than 6 runs once in the past week. I keep reminding myself of the '06 Cardinals (are there not correlations?), but that's such a shot in the dark. I'm depressed.
they tied the giants sometime during the game yesterday and i'm sure they're ahead of them now. so the 2nd worst offensive team in the national league.
I think that move was made because they were going to bring back Glavine. I was joking about that bit anyway. But on a serious note, the team is playing like they want to end the season and go home on Sunday night or Monday.
Well, there are alot of latin players out there. And Omar is an ex scout with alot of ties/connections down there. I don't see what the big deal is good players are good players and bad players are bad players. If you want to get on Omar for targeting bad players that's one thing but why make it about race?
pretty funny listening to willie's post game press conference. one of the reporters asked him about using el duque in the pen and he answered that of course duque is going to be pitching in the bullpen, he hasn't pitched in a long time, they're not going to just throw him out there to start a game. unfortunately no one followed up asking why humber was used in a starting role after such a long layoff himself.
does it even matter if the mets don't make it now? they're playing so awful they'd get swept in the first round.
He should be fired on grounds of insanity. He needs to be institutionalized, and he can't manage from there.
That actually makes me feel better, for some reason. With only 8 games between the two teams left to go, 6 is a tall order. Even if the Mets do suck.
That really would be funny, if it wasn't so sad. This is why polygraphs shouldn't be admissible in court - people can make themselves believe anything, no matter what the evidence might actually say.
Getting swept in the NLDS is much better than not making the playoffs. Last year I was pleased the Jets made the playoffs so they could lose to the Patriots. Much better than not making the playoffs at all.
Agreed. Plus, in baseball, anything can happen in the playoffs. The Mets would possibly play the Padres, who have not exactly been terrific. You never know what could happen, regardless of the odds.
If they win 3 out of 4, the Mets need to win 3 out of 4 to avoid a one-game playoff, a game in which the Phils would have to be big favorites. It's not as tall an order as you think. Note: this assumes that San Diego finishes ahead of both. They're winning now; if they win tonight and win 3 of their last 4 games, they would finish ahead of both the Mets and Phils in the above scenario. Anyone know how it would work if the three teams end up tied?
