http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...willie_randolph_omar_minaya_show_united_.html Here's an interesting read...I have to say, for good or bad (definitely for good though), I wouldn't be surprised to see Willie leave the team for whatever reason after the season. Going back to when Omar shuffled the coaching staff around, it seems there's a definite disconnect there. And I don't see Omar leaving, so it's possible Willie does. I'm sure we'll all shed tears when it happens.
Just got a chance to log on. I was listening to WFAN and they touched on this - it was because Willie thought that a rookie pitcher would benefit from having the best fielding OF they could have, and Gomez is a better fielder than L-Millz. Didn't say I agreed with it, but he did actually have an answer when asked about it. Interesting stat that Alou's 30 game hitting streak is the longest by any New York player since Joe D's 56-game streak.
I will be stunned if Willie leaves the team voluntarily. I doubt that he'd be at the top of anyone's hiring list, and it's pretty unlikely that he'd get to a team as good as the Mets are.
ugh...delgado. i find that "best fielding OF" answer extremely dubious, neither of them take great routes to the ball from the corner OF positions but I think that milledge has improved lately.
