How could they possibly charge both fans? My understanding is, the point of a PSl is it is a license that grants the holder the first right of refusal for all events at that arena. Thus, the season ticket holder can also buy those seats for monster truck rallies or a Justin TImberlake show. It'll be interesting to see how they work that out here with two different people in the same seat.

If 105 is correct in his estimates of $1875-$3650 PSLs for 40% of the Philly seats and this practice becomes the "norm" by 2010, I can almost guarantee that my "premium" Mezz section seats will be levied. Even if you take the above two figures and average them together, that means that 40% of Eagles fans have paid $2700 per seat for a PSL. Now, that's today's prices, not 2010 prices.

So let's say my seats are a "reasonable" $3,000 instead of $5,000. That's still 4 (seats) X $3,000 = $12,000 + $5,000 (for the tickets in 2010), for a total of $17,000 that year, adjusted for inflation by then.

Okay, so you say you don't have premium seats... you're up in nosebleed country. It still ain't pretty, because if you're not paying a PSL it means you'll be 400 feet away from the action, up under the lights with the seagulls circling for your sandwich overhead. Don't forget, the new stadium configuration is wider and flatter... more spread out and not as steep. So even the guy in the nosebleed section gets screwed because his ticket price has gone up and he's got a worse view than he ever had.

I swear, the more I think about this, the more cocamamie the whole idea. For what, to gain 4,000 seats? The extra 4,000 seats ain't goin' to the average Joe anyway, but rather to the corporate boxes.

Okay, I understand profit motive and the laws of supply and demand as well as anyone on this board, so I'm not naive by any means in terms of what is going on here. We all know this is about generating more cash and placing the burden of all the expenses of this cockamamie stadium on the backs of the ticketholders.

The only thing left out of the equation is going to be how ridiculous the stadium looks on game day when you've got all the practically invisible skyboxes full (behind smoked glass or wahtever), and about 12,000 fans in the regular seating area. It'll resemble a NJ Devils game, circa 1984.

Just to let you guys know, I got The Philly figures when I googled the subject, and took the info from The Philadelphia Enquirer (sp?) articles before the start of the first season at The Linc.

There were some other articles that were saying that the PSL was charged other than the obvious money maker was to guarantee that Ticket Holders would get as close to a comparable seat location as they already had. So, if you chose not to pay a PSL you can still possibly get tickets but at a different location, which would most likely be worse.

Also , another scheme of the PSL would allow the ticket holder to transfer tickets to anyone they wanted.

The Jets are 1 of the only teams in the league that allows you to sign your tickets over to anyone. The Giants for instance, supposedly only allow Family member transfers.

You can almost feel PSLs coming just as surely as you can feel a bowel movement coming and believe me, it'll probably be just as stinky.

Our house. It's the most simple concept in sports and teams that can make it work do very well at home.

The Jets have never had "our house". They were number 2 at Shea to the Mets and they're always gonna be second fiddle to the Giants at a shared facility.

The Jets need a place where they control everything and can begin to work the competitive advantage that that confers.

    FYI

    Carolina Panthers PSL's

Section / PSL / Price for Season

    Club 1 / $7,500 / $3,800.00 50 Yard Line Club Level
    Club 2 / $7,500 / $2,600.00 20-40 Yard Line Club Level
    Club 3 / $7,500 / $1,700.00 Corners Club Level
    A / $20,000 / $960.00 Between the 20's Lower
    B /$15,000 / $860.00 Corners Lower
    C /$7,500 / $740.00 End Zone Lowers & 2nd
    D /$3,000 / $590.00 Uppers Between the 20's
    E /$3,000 / $490.00 Uppers 20's to the Corners
    F /$3,000 / $430.00 End Zone Uppers

They Sold Over 62,000 PSL'S with the Lowest non upper deck PSL going for $7,500.

We could be Understimating the PSL fees if they go that route

Also the PSL gives you no right to the Seats for any other event just the right to buy the Season Tickets every year - So the Giants and Jets can both Charge a PSL.

Very important point here... Due to the shared stadium situation, you can almost guarentee the PSL's will be half of what you expect, if they exist at all.

In this situation, Do you know if the Stadium was privately funded, or did it come from Tax Dollars?

I don't understand how not having "our house," (i.e. our own facility) makes us "second fiddle" to the Giants. We're sharing a facility right down the middle. How does that make us "second fiddle?"

Please explain, because I've heard this many times before and it truly puzzles me.

Even though we are splitting it, I think the fact that we have been tennants for so long we will never get rid of that stigma.

Exactly. Who drew up the plans for the new stadium and then presented them to everybody else for inspection? The Giants.

But we sell 78K tickets which is most important for Woody. That just doesn't mean 78K will show up.

The worst part about PSLs that no one ever mentions is, it is "dead" money for the ticketholder and an interest-free loan for the club.

From a financial viewpoint, it's a disaster for ticketholders. In fact, if you were to run the concept by a financial advisor before coughing up the money, he'd probably tell you there aren't many other comparisons anywhere in the country that are bigger ripoffs.

If a ticketholder does have, say, $20,000 laying around in cash that he wants to tie up indefinitely and not have the use of, there are many other things he can be doing with that kind of money to either (a) increase his wealth (for retirement) or (b) enhance his family's lifestyle (an educational IRA, for example, to provide for college for his children).

$20,000, invested in the stock market (with an historic average rate of return of 10% per year compounded) turns into $51,874 after 10 years. After 15 years it becomes $83,545. In 20 years it becomes $134,550. So, the true cost of shelling out $20,000 (without any return or even interest on the money) for that period of time really becomes a financial disaster for the ticketholder.

The Jets, on the other hand, get the use of the money interest free for, you might as well say, eternity. If the ticketholder decides to turn the tickets back in after a period of time, the Jets return his money but pick up the next sucker in line.

Sure, there are going to be those who say, "Tough.... don't do it then. Nobody's putting a gun to your head! Quit whining and either put up the money or don't go!" And they're unfortunately right, but it's a hell of a way to treat loyal ticketholders who have hung in there with their cockamamie price increases and no championship in all these years.

I just hope some of you are right, that because we're sharing the new stadium, that the PSLs won't be too bad or that they'll somehow consider not charging them at all for the regular seats and maybe just charge the premium corporate box seats.

IMHO what you are missing is Woody could not care if the PSL comes from the "loyal season tix holder" or from IBM since it is still payment of the PSL correct? As for payment of the PSL your analysis is right there which is why Woody will go for the "big" PSL since he will be lining his pockets & getting his expenditure of constuction funds back quicker

You can be assured that I would NEVER/EVER give Woody my money especially when I can use it to make more money in other areas then the NYJs. Kindly remember right now the payment for my season tix comes from the fans renting the seats not from me or my family. If it comes down to PSLs & I cannot work out a acceptable plan with the renters I will just say adios to my season tix

I don't think I've missed that point, Champ, just lobbying against it coming from the loyal season ticketholder.

I know it probably falls on deaf ears, but I'm hoping if enough of us speak up, maybe it'll help. You haven't heard anything yet compared to the hell that will be raised if it comes to that. Local NY Jets ticketholders that go to the games are going to scream bloody murder.

OK & understand what you R attempting to accomplish but in the ultimate money talks & BS walks & at least IMHO Woody could not care where the $$$$$$$$$ comes from so long it flows into his pocket
