So that they can design it like Seattle's to make it really really loud even when over half the fans have left after the 3rd quarter.

Yeah...my major concerns are (1) PSLs and (2) Sight lines (or distance from the field). I saw something about the new stadium I didn't like... it looks like it'll be "spread out" more, in other words, the same seats I have now will be further from the actual playing field. The current stadium has a steeper seating arrangement giving viewers an almost ideal closeup of the action. There really aren't many bad seats in the house, no matter what the section.

If you spread it out (flatten it, like the drawings show) you're back to a Shea-like setup, where, unless you're lucky enough to be in the front rows, you're out in Oshkosh somewhere, using your binoculars on every play.

I don't know why a simple name change and $300,000 renovation wouldn't suffice. Hell, add more boxes, the way they did when they had Lattore pour that whole outside thingy they built in 1997 above the Stadium Club. It added corporate boxes up there and you could do the same thing on the other side of the field (even bigger) if that's what you're trying to sell.

The whole thing is a waste, IMO. We were so busy arguing over who's stadium it was going to be and the location that we lost sight of the original premise in the first place, which should have been, do we really need this cockamamie son-of-a-bitch and all the PSLs that might come along as a result!

They love to say its for the fans and its going to be great for the fans but its not about the fans. What's going to be better? You already listed what could have been better but isn't. The food courts? Yes, it is going to be better. For me, I do not even bring $ with me to the game. I bring water and make sandwiches with the left over tailgate meat. I only use the bathroom. Is it going to be better bathrooms? Good enough for me. Seats, sightlines... nah. all good here. Then what??? Let me see... hum. I got it. Woody and Mara are going to make more money and the worth of the team will go up and that's that. We are getting screwed. 28 years as a tic holder and if the PSL's are anything close to 5k its over for me.

I was talking with some other guys in my section Sunday about this and most of them are scared sh*tless over the PSLs. Four seats X $5,000 = $20,000. $20,000 + the (then) cost of the seats in my section will be a hefty bill of about $26,000 three years from now.

Most guys can't handle that and even if they could, they're wives and families (college expenses, etc.) come first. Slowly but surely families get shut out of games and get replaced with corporate-entertained, perked "clients." THEN we'll see how many people you have in the stands.

    Good job Woody.

Holy S***! Man, I'd never even done the simple math on that. That is ridiculous.

Yeah, the common fan will not be able to afford the games anymore. And I thought the crowd was a problem already...

I guess I'll never become a season ticket holder. There's no way my wife is going to even consider $5k...

I highly doubt PSL's are going to be that high, if we have them at all..I also doubt PSL's if applied will be applicable to all seats.......maybe "premium Seats" lower level etc......I can't see PSL's on uppers and end zone seats, and I think I read somewhere it would they were to be incorporated it would be on certain areas, not all.

    But yeah, 5k= Me out........

The one thing everyone is missing is that the 20 acres surrounding the Stadium on one side is going to belong to the Giants. When you pull in it's going to be NY Giants signs all over the place. On our Sundays, it's Jets stadium smack dab in the middle of Giants heaven. The only way the Jets should have signed this deal is if the Giants facility was off site and there was no mention of the Giants on our days.

Are U serial? Woody has a shot here to make a very fast payback on his investment. 5Gs per seat = over 400M in just one shot. Cmon if you do not think Woody would not go for that in a heartbeat. He does not care if you opt out he knows there will be many, many others that will be wiiling to opt in taking your place. To him it does not matter if it is a corporation or a fan the money is all the same. I think it is just a ton of wishful thinking on your part

When Philly opened up their new stadium, The average of the "PSL" was anywhere from 1875-3650 for 40% of the season Ticket Holders. Plus the tickets went from 45 bucks to 75 bucks for the cheapest seat

Teams like the Bears and Patriots did not go the "PSL" route but they do not allow any transfer of Season Tix, whatsoever. In other words you could never pass them down to your children.

so in Philly, are you saying that 60% of the season tix holders don't pay PSL's? or did the other 60% pay higher than those amounts you listed? just curious

I'd go for the Bears Patriots route for sure

well I'm basing what I said on something I have read in the past......what's your opinion based, your keen business sense and "wannabe" owner status?..or just that wonderfully cynical disposition you have?

in case you missed it, this post is dripping with sarcasm...I know that often goes over your head

Simple common & economic sense since Woody knows that he can easily get the PSLs & still sell the stadium out

He'll just have to dump some penny stocks, fire the chauffer, and cut down on the Grey Poupon. It's Frenchs yellow mustard until further notice. :)

He'll have to take Greyhound to the games from Austin, Texas. Only the wins, though. champ doesn't attend losses, they are of no value.

WOW! I just can't believe the money involved in this caper. Good calculation 227 but is this for real? I've been lucky enough to be in New York many times and I've always regarded us as a blue collar team with 'savy' New Yorkers making up our numbers. I can't see how any fan base could sustain this type of outlay.

I remember reading something to that effect also, Champ. I believe the Giants complex is on the north side of the planned stadium. It'll remain to be seen how inconspicuous it'll be, but if I'm not mistaken, most of the traffic pattern is on the south side. They sure as hell aren't going to want a lot of traffic going past the front door, at least you wouldn't think so.

I actually consider the Giants having their facility and practice area in the Meadowlands as an idiotic mistake on their part. Who would want that? There's nothing nice about the Meadowlands at ANY time of year. In the summer, it's a ragweed infested wasteland of a hot box. In winter, the cold west wind coming down out of Canada is unimpeded and relentless. There's nothing comfortable, scenic, tasteful or cool about having any part of your organization set up shop in the Meadowlands and, in fact, I consider it quite tasteless.

So, let them have their "facility" in the Meadowlands. I'll enjoy going to Jets training camps on our classy 20+ acres of prime woodland in a corporate park atmosphere, where I don't have to be in the 30-mile-per-hour, punk-ragweed infested wind and hopefully be able to stand under the shade of a nice oak tree while watching them practice.

The Giants were so concerned about their own exposure that they screwed themselves. There's nothing about the Meadowlands they're going to like.
