I'd rather see them get swept in the playoffs than not make the playoffs.

If they don't make the playoffs I might stop following baseball and I think I sort of like it enough that I don't really want to do that.

The first one was just bad luck. You must be kidding about the second one - getting a bad call to go to 2-2 hardly makes up for a tailor-made DP.

Anyway, who cares. Obviously David Wright is not even close to being a problem for this team. They don't have a single pitcher who seems to be able to pitch major league baseball.

If Humber pitches badly tomorrow (particularly if it's because of lack of command from rustiness) Willie must be fired (not that I think that there is the slightest chance of that).

If Abyzmul was a Mets fan and saw this, you'd go on his list.

one thing i dont get is the bashing of humber pitching tomorrow

you all wanted him last week, lawrence started.. now humber is gunna go and everyone is pissed.

the mets are detirimed to get pedro another day of rest, he obviously didnt tell them "fuck it, i want to pitch" or he would be pitching.. i hope..

    CHIPPAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

listening to the mets announcers trying to justify that the mets are still in this game is high comedy.

i don't have a problem with humber pitching tomorrow, personally. hard for him to be any worse then what they got out of the rotation this last go around(except for perez).

I'm not pissed about Humber pitching tomorrow. Some people are pissed only because of the rust issue.
But look at these other guys- pitching all the time and still sucking. Maybe rust will be good.

For once, I think I completely agree with you. Although, I'd say I'd stop following baseball, but I couldn't; it's my true passion, moreso than football.

Nothing is going to make me stop watching baseball - I've seen a lot more bad Mets baseball than good Mets baseball in the past 45 years.

The horrifying way the Mets have been losing obscures the basic fact about them - they're just not that good (including, of course, their manager). They've been living off their first 50 games, back when everyone but Wright was hitting, and Sosa and Smith were unhittable. It has been more than 3 1/2 months now that the Mets have been a .500 team.

I have a BIG problem with Humber pitching tomorrow after Randolph has buried him on the bench for a month. If Randolph thinks he is any good, it was inexcusable that he never used him when everyone in the bullpen was horrible; if Randolph doesn't think he is any good, how can you pitch him in the most important game of the year. You can't have it both ways. If Humber pitches 5-6 good innings tomorrow, given the awful way he's been handled, he gets the pitcher of the month award.

I don't understand the idea of hoping your team doesn't make the playoffs. Isn't that the whole point? What have we been talking about since April?

yes, willie has received a "vote of confidence" from minaya.

that's the first step in firing a manager.

First of all, it is Pedro. Second, I refuse to be hamstrung by the incompetence of Randolph in answering. If it were me the Mets wouldn't be in the position of starting someone who has pitched 3 innings in the past month.

the 40 HRs and 100+ walks would help you get over it.

I would pitch Pedro too, but for some reason the Mets are deadset on giving him 5 days of rest.
