Schoeneweis is a tremendous closer. This should be an easy out.

I was ready to post "Aaron Sele, new NY Mets closer" if he got the third out, but he doesn't get the chance.

At this point I've lost the will to criticize Willie for anything bullpen-related other than his refusal to use any of the callups at any time - after all, the ones he uses all suck.

You know Willie either he is sleeping or he is overmanaging to the point of idiocy

"And the d*mn game is over" - to quote the late, great Bob Murphy after a particularly painful victory over the Phillies (IIRC?) back in the mid-'80s.

i want to be clear, i have no problem with show coming in to pitch to hermida. the problem is that willie had no one else up in case he didn't get him out.

Hooray for the win, but watching this team next week (assuming they make it) will be agony.

You do know that I wasn't seriously criticizing you (or anyone else) for thinking that ANY move would blow up in their faces, right? The only thing saving Willie's job in my mind is that even if he makes the right move with the bullpen he's got less than a 50/50 chance that it will work out, so what's the big deal with him making wrong moves.

Looking around the NL though, I think the Mets could go far in the playoffs. No team is without weakness, though the Padres really scare me.

The Diamondbacks scare me the most. My preseason ARI-NYM NLCS pick could still happen.

Anyone reason why Sele was taken out? I thought they would let him get his first save ever, seeing as he had 2 outs on 3 pitches.
