Yor right about Baker being kept in to block. It is needed but I would love to see him get the ball more. I would not mind trying a two TE set at all. Sean Ryan looked good when he got chances in the preseason. I'd rather he or Baker be getting shots in the end zone than J-mac again.

I hope your rihgt about Cotch being a superstar in the making and I love his toughness and speed when he has the ball.

What I find mind boggling about these discussions is the lack of focus on the OL. The Jets have harmed the careers of many fine QB's for a generation by having an OL in the bottom half of the NFL. Some years--bottom quarter.

Yet all we hear about is the QB. The same group of "fans" who chanted for Chad to replace VT are now calling for KC. And in two more years, they'll be calling for a replacement for KC.

What we really need to do is upgrade on RT and LG. If either Jet QB had the time to pass that Tom Brady or Peyton Manning does, we'd be a perennial contender for the SB.

What we saw in weeks 1-2--against admittedly superior D's--was poor run and pass blocking. If you want to bark at Tangini for anything, it is that they have bungled the OL.

Clemens had a good Q4 because the Ravens played prevent D. They cut way back to a 3-man pass rush, and KC had more time to throw. He almost pulled off a comeback. Against the Pats, the Jets OL couldn't even stop a 3-man rush. So Billick gambled that the J couldn't score enough points to come back and he was right.

If we played the Ravens this Sunday. the result would be the same or worse. Because Billick would keep the pressure on for all 4 quarters.

I don't believe this is correct. I seem to remember plenty of blitzers in the 4th quarter, though admittedly I was quite a few beers in at that point. If they were in prevent, how would JMAC be wide open 5 yards from the endzone to drop the tying TD pass?

The Jets had a fine line from 1998 to 2001. It was the departure of Kerry Jenkins after 2001 followed by Randy Thomas after 2002 that set the wheels in motion on the mess that we have now. Guards may be the least valuable part of the offensive line but they are the 5th and 6th most valuable members of the offense overall following the QB, C and both tackles.

That the Jets chose not to address the line significantly after 2003 shows you that neither Herm Edwards nor Terry Bradway felt the line was important enough to spend resources on. This despite having 2003 wrecked by the loss of Randy Thomas.

    Again with the injury.

Thats like saying I had my foot cut off but hey look...I still made it across the street.

He had a weak arm before the injury..and he cant dominate a good defense. Most good qb's cant totally dominate a good defense...but they can keep a defense honest.

Again Junc...you saw this past week..yards after the catch..thats what a NORMAL NFL qb can give you. Chad cant (except to ask his receiver to eliminate gravity the way Cotch did last year).

The difference is that you are ok with a qb that gets his receivers bells rung after almost every catch...yet you do not view that as a signal that your qb doesnt have an nfl arm

Would you like to me to point out other poor qb's that had winning records? Won superbowls? Teams can win despite the qb.

Now you will throw out the stat of the Jets record with Chad at qb compared to without him..give it a break will you? Backup qb's for the most part are on the bench for a reason...they cant land the other 30 jobs available. Where is quincy carter now...brooks bollinger...every other qb that has backed him up.

You have a young stud on the bench that can stretch a defense. Perhaps one day you will understand the importance of that...but Im starting to doubt it junc.

he had all day to throw all game long, in the 4th he became more decisive and thus had success.

yep he limits us by doing nothing but winning in a division w/ a dynasty team in it in an era where it's mroe difficult to get in as a WC team. I don't know where you guys get this stuff from.

How did we do when Kellen opened up the game for us? we lost and we lost mainly b/c kellen stunk for 3 qtrs.

2006 is the recent past and 4 years after 2002 and he led us to 10 wins w/ 2 rooks on the Ol, a medicore D and no running game AFTER coming back from 2 shoulder surgeries.

excellent point and in 2-3 years they'll be wanting to see the next flavor of the month at QB to replace Clemens.

We had a rushing Champion in '04 but it was the loss of jenkins and thomas that caused this current mess. Mangini and Tannenbaum have had 2 yars and of course it's still herm and TB's fault:lol:

So Coles and Cotch didn't have any YAC last year? You guys are ridiculous, I bet you thought Browning Nagle was a HOf QB after his 1st game in Atl in 1992. Don't have KC fit for a bust in canton just yet after 1 game where he was the main reason we lost. he did a great job getting it done in the 4th qtr but whatabout the 1st 3? W/ Chad we aren't down 20-3. All Chad has done is win, fight through injuries and be classy and this is the thanks he gets? and the funny thing is 2-3 years from now some young, drafted QB willbe the next flavor of the month and folks like you wil be telling us how KC can't get it done and how this next guy will be great. I like Clemens but you guys are going overboard based on 1 good qtr of play.

If Chad were the Qb last week we would have lost 30-3. The Ravens would have released the Hounds and forced him into all kinds of mistakes. He would have had to do the one thing he can't do and that is throw. A qb who can't throw is like having a running back who can't run! And for the Record a weak schedule and the stars falling into place led us to the playoffs. I can't wait to hear you singing his praises after he beats the mighty Dolphins 10-3 on Sunday?

The reason he is divisive is he reminds us of every QB to play in green and white. He is immobile and holds the ball too long, thus taking a lot of sacks for loss of yardage. We have never had a mobile QB with a gun for an arm. We have had two or three with guns (see Namath, O'Brien, Ryan, O'Donnell) but like Chad, they couldn't outrun grandma and took a beating as a result. Chad does not have the gun of the former QBs. He's a gamer who, with protection, can cause damage. However we do not have a dominating O line so he will often get rushed to throw and take sacks for losses. JMO of course.

The Raves did release the hounds and we picked them up giving KC all day to throw. Chad w/ that amount of time would have picked apart Baltimore and we easily would have won.

How does a QB who can't throw win all the time? last year we had a "QB who can't throw" and no running game, how exactly did we win 10 games?

He's 6-1 against Miami, we always hear how great Miami's D is right? and Chad's #s against Miami:

    114-186, 61%, 1322 yds, 9 TDs, 1 INT, 96.6 rating

But Miam's D is only good when they face other teas, right?

Cha doesn't hold the ball too long, that is exactly wha was Clemes problem for 3 qtrs. Chad is the smartest QB we have ever had and he always makes qick decisons, if receivers are open he'll find them.

Chad doesn't need to hold the ball he throws 4 yard passes, no need to wait for a WR to actually run a pattern. Even when he goes deep he has to let the ball go on a 2 count because it takes forever to get to a spot.

Tell me how smart the read was in the Chicago game last year or the NE game. The guy is smart against teams that don't pressure him, he dumbs down very quickly against top defensive teams. Clemens can actually hold the ball because he can release the ball so quick. Chad rarely has time because if the ball isn't off quickly it's not arriving. There is nothing wrong with taking a sack as long as you're not giving the ball up. If you have the balls to keep going down field eventually the safties back off and the fat guys on the line get tired. It's called breaking down a defense.

He's not perfect but he's going to make good decisions alot more than bad ones. There's nothing wrong w/ taking a sack yet if Chad had the same performance Clemens had you guys wold be going nuts. You'd be screaming why didn't he get rid of the ball, he had all day to throw! You'd be blaming him for the loss but b/c your next flavor of the month at QB was in there you think he played great eventhough he was dreadful for 3 qtrs.

I like kellen, I HOPE he is for real but it's obvious Chad gives us the best chance to win and that is the goal, right? we want to win, don't we? I guess some of you guys would rather watch us lose w/ a stronger armed QB than win w/ Chad.

If Chad ever attacked a D like Clemens did I would give him a standing ovation. Chad's arm is not my problem with him it's his lack of balls in his own arm that drives me nuts.

he didn't attack for 3+ qtrs, he did late when it finally clicked but for for 3 qtrs of the game he did not and that is why we lost.

Cmon now Junc U know that it is the CS that calls the plays at least for KC so blame them not KC for the 1st 3 qtrs of nothingness with KC. Then one of our "genius" say h'mm lets try the no huddle & viola KC showed his stuff in qtr 4

Sorry to say you are just in another world when it comes to the NYJs & therefore time to move on to more important things then to argue with U that our CS totally limited KC during the 1st 3 qtrs of the game

How exactly did they limit Clemens? The only difference in the 4th was we HAD to throw b/c Clemens put us in a 20-3 hole. The protection was similar, KC just began to make good decisions and success followed.

U know U really come across as one silly fellow at least IMHO. You do not remember that one of our "resident geniuses" finally say hey why not try the no huddle & viola KC began to have time & viola again began to complete passes which was totally different then qtrs 1,2 & 3 ww some other "resident genius" calling the plays & formations

I come across as one silly fellow:rofl: That is hysterical coming from you.

He had time all game long, the no huddle was irrelevant. The man staretd making quick decisions in the 4th and that was the difference in qtrs 1-3 and qtr #4.

Well OK if that is your HO so be it. Under any circumstances last Sunday IMHO was CP Waterloo as a NYJ in case you have not yet realized it. The only way CP can save himself is bringing the VLT home in Feb 08 which again IMHO is very, very, very doubtful at best.
