UPDATED PITCHING MATCH-UPS Roy Halladay vs. Chien-Ming Wang Shaun Marcum vs. Phil Hughes Dustin McGowan vs. Mike Mussina A.J. Burnett vs. Andy Pettitte --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Yankees are 10-2 in my current run, hopefully they'll keep it up and I'll be starting threads through October. Roy Halladay vs. Chien-Ming Wang ...Each team is throwing their "ace" out to the mound, and it should be a great pitchers dual. Halladay has pitched very well against the Yankees in his career, and CMW hasn't pitched great against Toronto. I think that his numbers aren't great against the Jays because he struggles on the turf up there because the ball gets through the infield quicker. Expect a low scoring game, probably won or lost with the pen... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shaun Marcum vs. Ian Kennedy ...I can't go against Ian Kennedy, he has been amazing since his call up. I want to put this in the books as a Yankees win... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dustin McGowan vs. Roger Clemens ...Although he doesn't have the ace title of this group, he very well may be the Jays ace. He has pitched phenomenally lately, however, he hasn't had great success against the yanks. Clemens just had his best start of the year (in my opinion), and will give it his all once again. I expect another low scoring game, but I believe that the Yankees can prevail by working counts and playing smart. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A.J. Burnett vs. Phil Hughes ...Burnett has been dominant lately, especially against the Yankees. As you can see above. he has shut the Yankees down this year. We need a great start from Hughes from the beginning, none of this struggle in the first BS. The fan in my says Yankees win, the realist in me says this may be lost...
dwalsh is my hero. I want threads from you to continue into next year my man! Tough series now, especially since they must be charged up after beating the Sox like that. We have to battle. Let's get 'em Yanks!
If we come out of this series as close to the Sox as we are going into it then we have a legitimate shot at the division.
Doesn't he just make you sick? How is he even allowed to write a sports column? Smart in trying to defuse another of the biggest chokes in history in the event it actually happens. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7247158
I'm actually proud of all the regular yankee fans here for not pissing off the Mets fans in their recent slide. We've always maintained that we're not the initiators of that elementary trash talking, and if there every was a time to do it, now would be it. But we feel for our neighbors. Go Us!
That's not to say we're tempted to go over there and cause BS...Kidding Mets fans. Anyway...I don't like how the Yanks are going against Toronto's best 3, and they're coming off big wins against Boston... Please don't come out flat guys.
friday night is gonna be a great mmatchup.. should be over by 9:30.. im goin ot the game monday.. first game im goin to since arod put that moonshot into the left field upper deck.. i want all 4 of these games.. sundays game i wont watch, but hopefully roger throws a gem
Three straight day games is pretty odd in September. I'm sure the sun and shadows will play havoc those days (assuming it's sunny). Tampa played Boston pretty tough their last series and only lost 2 of those games because of their pathetic bullpen. Have to assume they at least have a chance in those games coming up.
That's exactly why we haven't been doing it. Because it's true. Plus, karma can be a fickle bedfellow. Besides, I've always maintained, truthfully, that I am only concerned with one thing: the Yankees' success. Who cares what the Mets or the Sox are doing? As long as the Yankees win, everything takes care of itself. Go Yanks!
Angels have opened up a full 1 game lead for the best overall record. Should be even more incentive for us to play to win the division. Well, on Boston anyway. Still 1/2 game only over Cleveland.
Toronto shut down Wells for the year. Not that he was having a great one but you just never knew when he might come out of it. We'll take what we can get.
that was one of the dumbest articles ive ever read. he tries to put a positive spin on the red sox slump
Did they change the rule several years back that said the overall #1 can play the wildcard even if they are in the same division, or did they just talk about it, or did I just dream it?
I think you imagined it. The Wildcard winner can never play a team from it's own division in the first round, no matter what.
Ian Kenendy has been scratched from his start tomorrow with a tight upper back. The rotation will be moved up a day, so Clemens tomorrow and Mike Mussina in game 4, unless Kennedy is ready by then... bummer
