I'd rather have him at the Jets than the Pats, obviously. It's only bad because he went to the pats. If he was anywhere else, i wouldn't want him.
^^^ there's a really strong argument to be made around this proposition. How much work is Randy Moss going to have to put in to make this a dream season?
That dude is doping, he is HUGE and all over the damn field. Someone test him. Keeping Moss from NE would have been well worth a 4th pick.
I you continue to scroll down in the post you'll see that i maintain that he'd be too much of a character risk for the current state of this team, which is not anywhere near a championship run.
The Jets never had this opportunity. Moss was going to block any trade that did not suit his needs. The Patriots trade suited his needs. Oakland was the passive partner here because they were on the hook for big money to Moss this season and would have had to cut him or keep him on the roster and pray he did not doze off.
I would love to have seen Moss and Penny re-united. Moss has started out nicely with NE, but everything is going well....for now. But I think it's really a matter of time before aligator arms drops a game winning catch and Brady and/or the NE press ride him. That will be the beginning of the end, and soon after THAT we (us right here) will be posting "THANK GOD WE DIDN'T GET THAT LAZY, MALCONTENT, AHOLE".
How can you say that when he asked to be traded? It's not like it was Oakland's idea in the first place. They were taking Russell and at the time that looked like a dream made in heaven to have those two on the same team.
LISTEN CLOSELY When the deal went down, the Raiders only got a 4th round pick for Moss because MOSS SAID THE ONLY TEAM HE'D REPORT TO IS THE PATRIOTS. The Jets had NO CHANCE.
Exactly, it would have been worse if we got Randy Moss and didn't do anything to address our running game...
I think without his 180 yards and TD for them, and maybe a TD and most of those yards for us we are in a position to win that game.
Nonsense...like I have said twice now. He wanted out. You can't pick your team when you are begging out. Besides that was never even what was reported to begin with. Supossedly (and this isn't true either) what he said was that he would only renegotiate his contract IF he went to NE. So get it right, ok?
I had trouble sleeping for days. Then the days turned into weeks and soon months. It was like night of the living dead for an eternity as slumber evaded me at every turn. Finally, I sought out my HMO care physician. After some routine tests he managed to find the problem. Turns out if my favorite team had managed to sign Randy Moss I would be sleeping soundly every night, tucked in with the thoughts of TD's dancing in my dreams. Unfortunately they did not sign him, and worse still he is now with a division rival. I thought all hope was lost... and then I saved a ton of money by switching to GEICO.
Ok, let's think about this hypothetically. You sign Moss, who's the odd man out, Coles or Cotchery? I see talk of all these 3 receiver sets, all day long. Do we just give up on the running game? There's no way this team runs the ball effectively out of 3 receiver sets with our O-line the way it is. That means 1 TE and no blocking back. That leaves defenses to play the pass all day long, which is not conducive to success with a QB who doesn't stretch the field. If you mix in formations that allow you to run the ball, which receiver sits out the majority of plays? Do you stunt Cotchery's development or piss off a very underrated receiver who has mentioned walking away before? Our offense wasn't built for 3 top shelf receivers. Get me an O-line like the Pats and we'll talk, but we really have 2 #1s right now. I don't see anyone accepting the #3 spot. McCareins dropped those balls, and it would have been great to have Moss for those 2 plays, but he wouldn't have been a good fit for our team.
As much as I hate to sound like a Chad hater, becuase I am not one, Randy Moss's abilities owuld not be maximized as much with Chad as the QB.
Go back and find the articles written about draft time. He said he wanted out and the only team he'd accept a deal to was the Pats. He said trade him to the Pats or cut him. He said he was NOT renegotiating his contract for anyone but the Pats. Only renegotiating with the Pats is basically the SAME EXACT THING. No team was taking him on for 10M.. Sorry, it's just semantics to try to say it's not the same thing
I didn't want him at the time so I can't kill them for it, but yes, it looks like it would have been a great move. Not sure if we would have taken the deal he got from the Pats from us though. I know he likes Chad, but still. And that said, while he'd be nice to have, he wouldn't solve our problems on offense which is the offensive line.
your problem is you seem to believe everything you read in the press, b/c thats not what moss said!! i saw a interview where he said he would have renogotiated his contract with the packers also, but the pack never asked if he would. he was willing to go to any team that had a chance to win(those were his words). sure, the press was saying he only wanted to go to the pats, but that was not the actual case. as usual the press got it wrong and so do you.... you might want to google it, b/c the real story did eventually come out...
it's only been two games, but i'd be willing to bet you a weeks salary that your full of sh*t. i think we've seen enough to know that the guy is going to have a monster year barring injury and your just doing more wishful thinking just like a lot of the nea sayer's were doing three months ago. they've all disappeared as will you on this subject at seasons end. moss is a hugh talent that is not to be under estimated, if you haven't noticed already!!!
