No , This time I think it has more to do with Kiffin wanted to prove hes his own man. Clearly Culpepper was an AL davis signing(rumor is Kiffin didn't want him) AL Davis thinks culpepper should start. First he believes Culpepper gives the Raiders, the best chance to win this year. Second, hes paying him 3 million plus to ride the bench. Kiffin going to start his guy McCown regardless of what AL davis or the fans want. Just by performance, Clearly Culpepper has outplayed MCCown in the preseason.

McCown better start justifying Kiffin faith in him, and pretty soon.

    After watching it again...

That kick could of been kicked 65 yards and have a chance to go in.

I'd put it a bit differently. I'd say that Robert Gallery looks to be a washout as the second pick of the 2004 draft, and a turnstile of tackle. But good luck with that whole internal reclamation-thing you've got going on.

Thanks, Lamont Jordan 25 carries for 159 yards and I think that whole reclamation- thing is going pretty well. At least Gallery can play Guard at possible probowl level, good luck with Dbustashaw Ferguson.

Must keep you warm nights, when you think about that "young and exciting defense" that seems to be sucking the sludge out of the bottom of the barrel.

Again two games does not make a season. Lets see where the Raiders and defense finish up. Remember the creme eventually rises to the top.

I'm not sure you understand how this whole NFL draft thing works. Having one of the first picks each year doesn't mean you're kings of awesomeness, you know.

Rein it in a little Joe. Kiffin is not going to start anybody just to piss off Al. McCown is his guy right now because he knows the offense better than Daunte right now. That could change, he even said it in his press conference on Monday.

I agree with you about Ferguson though. At least Gallery looks like a good guard. Ferguson is making a much worse showing at tackle to this point than Gallery did through his first 18 games.

Thats what circulating around diffrent Raiders sites that It is indeed a power play between MR Davis and Kiffin. (who knows if its true or not) Both favor diffrent QBs D culpepper(Al Davis) - Kiffin (MCCown)

Now the question is if- McCown is starting because he knows the offense more, than why be ultraconservative in the passing game last week in the passing game. You tell me a limited D culpepper couldn't have run last week game plan. With the raiders sucess running the ball, it should have opened up the passing game. McCown missed passes, a NFl starting QB can't miss.

Second Why start a clearly not healthy MCCown, and not a limited Healthy Culpepper. Speculation is if culpepper played well than theres no way MCcown gets his starting job back.

Shanahan played it right....he called the timeout ON TIME, it was granted...the only thing that sucked about that was that Janokowski missed the 2nd FG, its his fault for missing it, no one elses...Denver drove down the field, Oakland couldnt stop them....the result was a Game Winning FG, end of story

I don't think any Raiderfan is saying the Timeout wasn't called. The fact is Jankowski took out a big divot after kicking the first one. The Punter/Holder(S lechler) moved the football over to spot that didn't have the divot spot.(could be the diffrence why second one was off from the first one.

On TV you can definately hear a whistle before the ball was snapped.

And yet all 22 guys went balls out on that play.

It was legal, bottom line. Doesn't mean I have to like it!

Again anyone can say anything they want on the web(dosen't make it true) but when you look at this Qb situation, you have to wonder if those rumors have merit. Something just dosen't add up.

There is no way MCCown should have started last week, if he wasn't anywhere close to being healthy. Raiders relied heavilyn on the running game, and there is no way Culpepper couldn't have executed that game plan. Culpepper clearly outplayed MCCown in the preseason and McCown hasn't done a good job protecting the football. Yet for some reason McCown keeps starting.

And the Raiders use the same tactic this week against their opponent. Pretty scummy if you ask me.

i dislike the raiders, and picked them to lose in my football pool this week.

but i dont blame kiffin at all. i think the rules should be changed however regarding this bs.

but from kiffin's view, he had a important division game wrapped up and shouldve won till Lord Keebler Elf of the Denver chapter decided to pull some shit and it blew up in kiffin's face.

kiffin found out the hard way that its legal, and he used it to his advantage.
