http://youtube.com/watch?v=yFGucgncvYo Another we have to realize is that Mangini is not afraid to be aggressive unlike Herm. I think Mangini will do whatever he can to put Kellen in the best possible situation to win. Man im excited about Kellen.
Well, until they get the offensive line up to par on protecting the passer, there will be no best possible situation to win the game on Sunday.
Analysts can love or hate Kellen all they want. They do not have a job that depends on him playing well. What made me happy is that after his visit Shotty loved him enough to want to draft him. I hope it pans out for everyone involved: Kellen, Brian, and the Jets.
How many QB's have the so called draft experts love that have flopped? analysts were high on Brick and he is a loser so far, hell he caused the starting QB to get hurt cause he is so damn inept. In any case, it's all about the right situation, the right offense, being in and understanding the system. With the current state of the team (OL and Defense), I just don't think the timing is right, not that we have much of a choice. Like I said before, as long as he does not turn the ball over, we will have a chance in this game.
It's definitely going to be exciting to see what he can do with the ball. I think after a first series full of jitters, he will hopefully get his timing right. I think Thomas Jones has to have a high number of touches to get the ball out of Clemens' hands in order for him to become comfortable back there.
Kellen offers so much more in the way of mobility than Chad, which in turn helps when concerned about the pass protection. With his arm strength he can make throws on the run that Chad just can not. This should allow for a game plan with a more mobile pocket, with Kellen rolling out to by time...
Deep passes = Open up short passing game and run game. Also, I don't foresee Clemens throwing every single pass deep. But if you know the opposing QB can't throw over your head you cheat up. Clemens will be able to keep the defense back, I hope.
wasn't kellen gonan be a top three quarterback but he broke his ankle? I am excited about this guy coming in considering all we are hearing from this guy. But i dont have huge expectation from him. He's making his first start against one of the best defenses in the league.
It would be pretty pathetic if he just goes and gets injured. I don't understand the Jet philosophy of bringing in smaller weaker players, who are in turn more likely to get injured. Hopefully Clemens injury in college was a fluke, but Chad has now been hit with something like 5 fluke injuries so I've become rather cynical now.
While I do not disagree, last Sunday was not a fair test of where are O-line is right now. We should have a clearer picture ( a little pun here) this week. If we are bad this week, then we really are bad.
I've seen this guy many times at Hofstra at both TCs and he's really quite promising. Of course, this is practice, but he appears to handle all the mechanics and mental aspects pretty well. My biggest concern is, we won't get to see any of that because it's the Ravens we're playing and I don't trust our O-line right now. I think he's going to look hurried and at times confused and will probably make some pretty good mistakes. Of course, Penny would probably be looking the same also. But with Clemens, at least we have the option of airing it the hell out. God, please have our O-line show up for work on Sunday! It'll make all the difference in the world as to what we see in Clemens.
Many forget the days when CP had a decent arm, I mean sure he never threw bombs, but before his shoulder 2x, he had good zip on intermediate passes, like going down the middle, 20 yard outs, once upon a time he had a very respectable YPA, but now CP just does the best he can with a bum shoulder. But on the right team, Ravens, maybe Vikes, basically a stellar defense and good running game Chad can excel and get to a SB. But going back to KC, I am pretty sure he has a much stronger arm than the current CP. It will be a boring but very interesting game, interesting because it will give the coaches a chance to see how KC plays in a "real" game. Boring cause it will be a punt fest. I swear if Boller moves the ball through the air on the Jets defense I give up!
Even in the pre season, compared to the way Chad throws now Clemens looked like the Favre of olde.....
