In light of "CAMERA-GATE"(as I call it), is Tom Brady still to be considered "great" or is he just a big-time beneficiary of Bellicheat's I-spy Camera System?? Think about it....All those superbowls that Tom won....You think having that "extra edge" back then enabled him to execute offensive sets more easily against opposing defenses? ats_suck: Tom Brady, IMO, has always been considered a bit plain/vanilla-like to be anything more than a Backup QB. And after this whole "camera-gate" fiasco, I believe Tom Brady's Greatness isn't so Great after all.
It's hard to tell what will happen with the Pats and Brady now. If they win the Super Bowl this year how will people react? I think it's safe to say their image is forever tarnished, especially around the NFL. The media has not done a good job showing the whole pattern of cheating and how far it stems back. So most of the nation just think its an isolated incident. I just hope in a few months, the Pats are not back to be the darlings of the NFL.
Even if you know what coverage they play (QBs have a good idea without stealing signals anyways), you still have to make the throws, and that?s something he does just perfectly. Look at that TD to moss, he threw a bomb over the half field into tripple coverage and moss was able to score untouched! He knows who his receivers are, what they?re capeable of, and where he has to put the ball that they can make the most out of it. And he has great mecanics, throw power and accuracy. that?s all things you can?t steal. But he could lose some of his confident and coolness in the pocket, and make some more bad decicions in the future. If this happens, noone will see a great QB in him anymore and he?ll go down to history as "Shady Brady". Go Merriman, Go Phillips, time to make him Pay!
Unless security is upped big time, I don't expect the Pats to do anything differently, except maybe hide their camera man a little bit better.... With no penalty as far as the Pats on-the-field product this season goes, why should they stop doing it? Let the NFL take their draft picks, they don't need them... The team is stacked to a level now where they're drafting for depth, not immediate impact.... Unless they were handed a suspension or a forfeit, they have nothing to deter them from doing this again.... Expect maybe a one-week layoff from this kind of activities, followed up by the Pats looking like they're one step ahead of the opponent for the rest of the season
Why? im lovin the fact that most of the U.S. now thinks poorly of Brady and company. Im marinating in hate.....
i feel that if they finish 14-2,slice thru playoffs and win the superbowl they will undo all the damage and shove it up everyone's butt . BUT, if they finish 10-6 and do mediocre in playoffs that will seal the deal on "spygate".
I'm thrilled as much as everyone else is about them getting caught but you can't honestly believe they are the only one doing this. Does it make you question their success in the past? Yeah perhaps, but it's just plain not something that only they do.
to the extent that they went thru I think it is otherwise they wouldn't be the only team we've ever heard about doing this
What the filming did was allow them to put the perfect pass protection in front of him which gave him an extra 1 or 2 seconds to find the open receiver (and give the receiver that much more time to get open) and get the ball to him. If you give any NFL QB that much time, they would pick your team apart. Imagine a QB who doesn't have to rush any passes that might be ill advised. Not only does it cut down on sacks but it also reduces turnovers. It is the difference between a good QB and a Great one. This is why you have to question all of Brady's numbers.
Will Pats owner fire Belichick? Posted: Saturday September 15, 2007 08:43AM ET Don't be stunned if this isn't the beginning of a divorce between Bill Belichick and the Patriots' public-relations conscious Robert Kraft, who has already had issues with the way Belichick portrays himself publicly and the way he cloaks his players from the fans via his stringent media policies. If you're thinking Kraft might pick up that $500,000 fine Belichick incurred, think again. Belichick has shamed the organization so badly he should pick up the $250,000 fine Kraft has to pay the NFL on behalf of the organization. Don't be surprised if Kraft has decided this is the last straw and parts ways with Belichick after this season. There will likely be an opening inside of Giants Stadium after this season. New York Post Belichick's punishment angers insiders Posted: Saturday September 15, 2007 08:25AM ET For Bill Belichick to escape Camera-gate without a suspension wasn't sitting well with rival organizations yesterday, particularly since Belichick's decision to use a camera on the sidelines flouted the rules and compromised the integrity of the game. "They fined him the maximum allowed, so certainly no one has a problem with that," one league insider said. "And they had to penalize the organization just to send the message that if a coach does this, everyone will be held accountable. But a suspension should have been the starting point, and right now there are some very angry people around the league." Boston Herald http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/nfl
1. I wouldn't hold your breath about firing BB. Not going to happen in the near future. A slightly related topic.....BB's contract runs 1 year at a time, and either side can opt out from year to year. However, the salary is negotiable, so I'd expect to see BB get a $500,000 raise next year....we'll see. 2. Of course rival clubs don't like it......you really need to read that to know it?
