Sorry guys I am hopless at providing links but great news from NFL.com, Chad is practicing and preparing as if he'll play Sunday. Are we surprised? The toughest QB in the league, I hope he makes it: Go Chad!!

Chad never ceases to amaze me. What a warrior.

Still... if he's going to put himself at risk by playing Sunday, then he should sit the week out. No need to jeapordize the entire season over one game.

Of course we have no idea if there was any serious damage on the play. He could be fine, and was just sore immediately. Knowing his career could be coming to a close in the near future with Clemens, he could have taken a cortizone shot to reduce inflamation, and will be fine through the rest of the season. He'll just pay the piper in February or March.

The guy is ballsy. No doubt about that.

That is great news. Chad on one leg is probably better than Clemens on both. Now all the Pennington haters will complain that Clemens played so great in the PRESEASON. They will try to convince everyone that the preseason is more important than the regular season.

I have never been one to bash chad and i dont think i ever would be able too...People say hes never gonna win a SB, and they might be right but you have to appreciate his warrior instinct, team commitment and love of the game

I think that Chad feels his career is hinging on him not missing time, with the supposed quarterback of the future breathing down his neck. He knows that if Clemens gets that one start and succeeds, it's his team.

    And I think he's right.

I hope Chad's foot is up to it cause he's gonna be raw meat for the Ravens' DLine on Sunday. Not that Chad was all that mobile BEFORE this but now????

Pennington hobbled by ankle injury, still preparing for Sunday

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- New York Jets quarterback Chad Pennington was preparing to play Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens despite being hobbled by an injured right ankle.

Pennington, wearing a black wrap around the ankle at practice, participated in footwork drills but didn't throw any passes or take any snaps with the offense during the half-hour period that the media is allowed to view.

The quarterback walked with a slight limp, appearing to walk considerably better than he did after the injury Sunday.

"It's just a day-to-day process and I'm working extremely hard around the clock to do everything I can to prepare myself to play," Pennington said. "I'm just taking it day by day and seeing how much progress I make each day."

Pennington injured the ankle when he was sacked by Jarvis Green during the third quarter of the Jets' 38-14 loss to the New England Patriots.

The Star-Ledger of Newark, N.J. reported that according to an anonymous source, Pennington had told those close to him that he didn't think he would start Sunday.

"Chad doesn't think he could play this week," the source said, according to the Star-Ledger. "He said the ankle is really sore. He wants to play and he's going to give it a try, but he doesn't think he's going to play."

If Pennington can't play, that would open the door for second-year backup Kellen Clemens to make his first NFL start.

The Jets have remained tightlipped about the nature of the injury, and wouldn't reveal if Pennington had an MRI exam, which he was believed to have taken Monday. The quarterback also deflected the question.

"I'll let you ask Coach those questions because I'm scared to answer those,'' Pennington said, drawing laughs.

Coach Eric Mangini does not allow anyone in the organization discuss injuries, including himself, saying they are internal matters.

"We'll see how it goes,'' Mangini said. "And it's really like everybody. We'll talk to the doctors, we'll see how it works and then we'll monitor it as we go.''

much as i hope he's ok and ready to go, I still say sit him and let him heal.....throwing him in at less than 100% against Baltimore is asking for trouble for both himself and the team

I'm betting this was a show for the media portion of practice just to keep everyone guessing, including the Ravens

How do you explain him coming back to play with a torn shoulder when his job was as safe as could be?

He'll play if he is healthy enough to play and won't if he is not..

If players waited until they were 100% every week, noone would ever play. Noone know what the extent of his injuries were and we still don't. If he plays he is ready to play.

What's great is this is the same fan base that wanted to string John Abraham up for not playing through the flu.

Chad is one of the toughest SOBs I've seen play football. If nothing else, the fact that he will give his own blood to help our favorite team win is enough for me to love the guy.

If Chad had a serious injury, Mangini wouldn't even have him practice on the ankle.

Mangini knows what he is doing by preparing Chad to play on Sunday in Baltimore.

Chad needs to sit out if he wants to be able to walk without complications this yr.

Theres so many things that could go wrong if he played. Then when he goes down for the year we'll have more sob stories about the wonderboy.

If hes smart he'll sit out and give his ankle some much needed rest.
