It's as simple as that. I'm not even going to get into the Clemens cheering thing, there's been enough said on that. I am tired of reading that we can't win with Chad Pennington as our quarterback and Clemens needs to start now. I feel like he's fought his ass off to help this team, through multiple injuries, and plays in pain, yet nobody appreciates it because he's not Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. I guarantee one thing, we will not be as close to as good with Clemens at QB than we've been with Pennington if Clemens starts right now. Look, I love Clemens for the future, but just because the guy beat up on some second teamers in the preseason does not mean he's the next Tom Brady. I understand that Chad can't throw the deep ball, but that doesn't win ball games. Look at guys like Byron Leftwich, Daunte Culpepper, J.P. Losman--3 of the strongest arms in the league and they haven't one ANYTHING. We've won with Chad. Every year he's been a starter for enough games to make a difference, we've made the playoffs. If it wasn't for Doug Brien, he would've taken us to the AFC Championship game. It's not Pennington that's the problem, its the fact that we have no pass rush, our o-line gives him about a second to throw and therefore we can't run the ball, and our secondary gives up to many big plays. Chad did nothing wrong yesterday, and he doesn't do anything most QBs don't do most games. His lack of ability to throw the deep ball isn't keeping us from winning. It's just the fact the Jets are simply not as talented as teams like the Patriots. We moved the ball down the field 1-2-3 in the drive after Pennington got hurt yesterday, with no deep ball. His accuracy makes up for it. If we can fix those problem areas, though, we can be a very successful team around Pennington, as we've been in the past.

Just had to get that off my mind. :jets:

I used to hate the Penny bashers as well but sometimes you have to put yourself in their shoes. There is no more patience with CP, this franchise, the FO, etc, long time Jets fans want something to cheer about, they want a SB. Most teams would be happy with a QB who, when healthy, takes you to the playoffs year in and year out. But for some Jets fans its not enough to be successful they want the quick fix, many of them think KC is that quick fix. One thing is for sure, either he will be or like many before him, he will have been rushed in before he was ready, and end up a flop. I have been a fan since the early 80's it got to a point when I stopped watching football caused the Jets sucked so much there was no point. But then came Parcells, then Herm, and somewhere in there CP. CP has given the Jets fans so much to cheer about since he has been here and been in the lineup, he gives you hope every season. I appreciate everything he has done and wish him well -- I saw this because I think we have seen CP play his last game as the Jets starting QB. If we cannot go next week, or if he is out for a few weeks, I think the coaching staff will go with KC (and stick with him) simply because they need to know if he is the answer. Chad will always have a place in KC

Thank you for the post. It's the one thing that the Chad bashers miss - he wins games.

Chad Bashers FTL. Pennington is the man, bottom line. Each of his injuries have been unfortunate and have NEVER made the team better. Great thread by the way.

I'm on the Clemens bandwagon, but I do not dislike Pennington in the least. I appreciate everything he has done for this franchise. I love his leadership and his moxie. I just don't like his inability to get the ball quickly into a receivers hands, as it limits what Shottenheimer can do on offense.

I can understand where you are coming from 100% Tony and I see no problem with that view at all. Yesterday was sad though.

Anyone who cheered Penningtons injury is a disgrace. I wouldn't even cheer an injury to Tom Brady if it happened inthe AFC Championship game against the Jets.

He was getting it in there pretty well yesterday. Deep outs to LC, over the middle to Cotch in traffic a few times. Even after he couldn't plant his right foot he was getting the ball where it had to go. Hit 10 of his last 11.

He throws a touch pass, not a dart, he always did. I don't think it limits anything. Did Clemens throw down the field? I didn't see it. You have to pass protect for 4 seconds if you want to throw deep, that's what limits the offense.

I agree. Dont even think Brady could mimic his performance yesterday behind the Jets O-Line. Nobody probably could.

    GREAT post!

He got hurt, and he came back and led us to a score. Also did you see the intensity he had after the injury!

I admit to have doubting Chad before, but after that I will not doubt him again!:jets:

You must be kidding or 20 years old!!!!

As a 40 yr Jets fan, you (paron the expression) don't know shit from shoeshine...the true Jets fans have been through so many lows and a few highs over the years....this franchise was a laughing stock for decades.... Parcells helped right the ship and I WILL TAKE A WINNING TEAM EVERY YEAR and MAYBE A SUPER BOWL ONCE IN A WHILE....get real with your expectations and your front-running attitude.....

I can understand the people who dislike Pennington's limitations. I'm one of those people who feel that the team hasn't been built for Pennington to succeed, and yet he's been very successful. I'd argue that if he were playing for Chicago, SD, or Baltimore right now, he'd be a Super Bowl QB. He protects a close lead better than ANY other QB, and the facts back that up.

What I don't understand are the posters that can't give the guy any credit whatsoever. The ones who look at the positives and still say that he's a waste of a QB. Or the ones who think that Clemens will come in and immediately produce better results than Chad. Just don't get it.

The threads on this board speak a different story. People are willing to give up a winning season just to see KC. That one dude has that shit in his sig about 30 something plus years with out a SB. Every thread CP cannot lead Jets to a SB. I have read countless times sure CP wins games but he will never win a SB, Jets fans never appreciate what they have, going back to this thread CP has given this franchise everything he has and the Jets fans cheer when he gets hurt... Sure you want winning

first of all, of course I agree with you about all the other problems with this team...but as far as the chad stuff goes......making a simple blanket statement that chad is a winner doesnt nulify what the anti chad people on this board are trying to say...we are not saying that chad cant win some games in the regular season....we are saying that the team is capped with penny.we have gone as far as we can go with chad. just because hes gotten us to the playoffs doesnt mean that with a better qb we cant go further. that for some reason is the point that you blind chad lovers dont comprehend....our second drive yesterday is the perfect example(I htink it was the second.) it was the drive that stalled when chad had to scrable to the sideline and came up a yard short.....the reason he had to scramble? we called that same old bullshit WR screen or whatever you want to call it.....andit was covered by about 14 defenders. why? because everyone in the fuckin building knew it was coming....and why was it called people??? because thats the only pass pennington can make.....I hope his ankle is broken in 14 places to be quite honest ....Ive seen enough of chad in my life...regardless of whether or not yesterday was his fault
