Chad Pennington, on most days - will "have us in the game." That is not in doubt. What is in doubt is whether he can offer any THREAT to the defense - at least enough to give the O-line some breathing room? Yes, some of the reason the Jets give up so many sacks is Pennington. Not his inability to get rid of the ball or hold it too long, but the lack of a deep threat. The defense can tee off on most every play - because they doubt they'll ever get beat deep by the Jets. Two things: Chad's passes: 9 yards to Cotchery 11 yards to Washington 8 yards to Cotchery 6 yards to Coles 10 yards to Cotchery 17 yards to Coles 10 yards to Coles 16 yards to Washington 8 yards to Cotchery 7 yards to Coles, TD 11 yards to Cotchery 11 yards to Cotchery 16 yards to Baker 13 yards to Baker 1 yard to Coles, TD Most of those passes were either against a prevent defense or just the Pats laying off being completely comfident they cannot get beat deeps. YPC 1. Tom Brady 10.6 2. Chad Pennington 8.0 3. Tony Romo 14.4 4. Jake Delhomme 7.4 5. Peyton Manning 9.6 What good is an 8 yard pass when you are behind by so much? How dangerous is your offense? How can you scare the defense, put pressure on them, get them on their heels, when you CANNOT throw deep? Again, I love Chad, but it's time for a change, if the Jets ever want to get to the next level.
If he ever posts anything that even is semi-intelligent, lemme know. A memo would be fine. joesmoe39 is on your ignore list.
lol, whaaaa lol. i guess semi intelligent means homer posts, to your intellectual way of thinking. so much so, you don't want to read some reallistic posts about football. just more of you and your buddy's homerish, visionless insights. please do put me on ignor. just one more mindless poster i'll have to respond to.
He beat one of the better Ds in the league for 2 TDs while being harassed by the line every down and with lil to no running game.
gee, a whole two TD'S!!! i guess we should be declared the winners of that game, even if they did score 5 td's.
Maybe you can explain to the class how you are going to throw deep without proper pass protection. At a minimum you have to have that first before you can hang out and wait for plays to develop downfield.
i did, and i called it like i see it. you post stats that mean nothing. how about his stats that compare with the rest of the qb's yesterday. what percentage level was he in. you don't want to look at those stats, do you! because they show the other side of the coin. # are meaningless unless it's telling you the score, which i do believe was not in our favor.
teams crowd the line of scrimmage because they have no respect for his throwing arm, hense, why they blitz a lot since they're right there at the line of scrimmage anyway!!!!
Right... because having an OL with more holes in it than a golf course plays little to no part. It is all about CP's arm. Your arguments are among some of the most ridiculous at best.
Chad was under CONSTANT pressure and he still had a very solid game. Last year when we pressured Brady, he looked pretty awful laying on the ground. Blame the O-Line, not Chad. He stood inthe pocket, made some very nice reads and spread the ball around, which was the ONLY thing keeping the defense on its heels.
That "next level" somehow always seems to elude the Jets when Chad does not play. But hey, lets throw a second year guy in to face the Ravens and Miami and we will be on our way becuase thats worked in the past. Did you notice how Play action yesterday was completely non-existent in our gameplan, because if you cannot run the ball, why respect it. They were stuffing our run in their base defense all day, our O-Line got NO push, Chad had guys sitting under his routes and Safetys floating on the deep routes, he still managed to move the ball around and find holes.
no,to be able to play so many players close to the line compounds the weaknesses of the oline. duh!! get it.....
Take a look at the Pats. Horrible secondary outright stud front 7. You really think play action is going to lossen up that team? The Pats need to be attacked down the field from play one. They need to be hit deep, hit with quick tempo and constantly attacked with deep passing. Slowing it down, trying to run on that big fat front 7 is murder. On a hot day you have to run plays on them and get them out of their comfort zone. Screens are nice once you establish the outside up the field. We need to stop waiting to attack the weakest part of that team. We simply can't feel them out and wait until they get on top, it's over at that point.
