This frickin square peg in round hole bullshit needs to end, I've been harping on it all of last year. We don't have the personnel to play 3 - 4 , our D-Line is too small. WHY THE FUCK CAN'T YOU SEE THIS, MANGINI? Every man player on your defense play better in the 4 - 3 set. Can we stop acting like this asshole is some sort of genius, when he is constantly trying to put a square peg in a round hole.
We've been moaning about the lack of a pass rush for 5 years, the 4-3 was no better for us, except in 04, which was a freak run.
I can understand why last year might not have been so great becuase he was working with Herm's leftovers, but we needed to make some moves this offsesaon for the 3-4 to work and nothing was done. Signing Coleman? Yeah thats nice but its not gonna work, we needed to address the NT position and NOTHING was done.
RE - Bryan Thomas RT - Kenyon Coleman LT - Dewayne Robertson LE - Shaun Ellis ROLB - David Harris MLB - Jonathan Vilma LOLB - Eric Barton They really can't be worse than what we have in the 3-4 right now.
it sucks that gabe watson and alan branch was passed for couple rounds and jets didn't consider neither
this was the biggest ASS WHOOPIN' any defense has taken... 43/34... in a while, i hope we have learned somthin after today........
Right, now that the team has turned the personnel upside down and committed to the 3-4, let's switch up again. In fact, let's change schemes every year. It worked for Herm. Right?
Let's not forget 2 years in a row this FO failed to address the pass rushing situation during the off-season. Instead of drafting a pass rushing 3-4 OLB/DE hybrid, we elect to draft 2 ILBs in day 1 of the 2006 and 2007 drafts. A guy like Mark Anderson would like real nice playing opposite Thomas at ROLB.
I wouldn't of mind keeping the 3-4 because of it's versatility, but it seems that the FO make no attempt to bring in a NT or the pass-rushers we need to have a successful defense...
I said that last year and people thought I didn't know what I was talking about. My case, Ellis was consider a bust in the 3-4. In the 4-3 he was pro bowl type. Vilma was a rising star. Establishing himself as one of the LEAGUES top young players. You put in a system that negate your best players strength and exploit their weakness. If you notice, last year, the "D" improved later in the seasons when they used the 4-3 more. Just a thought.
I don't think Ellis ever played in the 3-4? Groh brought the fulltime 4-3 with him in 2000 (Ellis, Ferguson, Lyle/Burton, Logan) and then Herm went with the 4-3 again in 2001. It's possible they went out of the 3-4 for some series in 2000 but I don't remember it being a feature of the Jet's D that year.
