First off replace Jeremy Newberry with Grove at center, and the oline you put out there is indeed correct. First Off they have switched to a Denver stretch and cut blocking scheme. Three of those additions J Newberry(big time upgrade) C Carlise(Denver) and Cornel green are well verse in the zone blocking system. With Sims and gallery having athlethism to excell in that system. Learning curve won't be that long. Raiders oline might not scare anyone, but that groups going to be pretty good this year. Caser In Point, Denver oline dosen't scare anyone either but that group worksd very well together. Now at RB- look at the type of RBs that have sucess in that system, and there haven't been alot of big names. (system looking for certain kind of RB) Second Raiders offense not the Rams offense, but a WCO offense. They have alot of pieces that fit very well with that offense. They will throw alot of short passes to Rbs, Te, and Wrs. Taking occassional shot deep. aLl the Raiders QB are mobile qb(Culpepper, MCCown, and russell) which puts more pressure on defense. \Raiders have alot of size at WR J porter 6'2.R Curry 6'2 M Williams 6'5 , Johhnie Lee Higgins- kid has some serious skills. Two Tes J Madsen 6'5 240 and Zach miller 6'5 255 that are going to be trouble for teams to match up with. Esecially with the Qb outside the pocket. Justin Griffith is a do it all FB but Raidersw have a player they drafted in Oren ONeal . This guy just destroys anything in front of him. Draft publications that were saying he was just like Lorenzo Neal weren't kidding. Raiders offense will be better than the jets next year. We will examine the numbers after the season , and they will show that to be the case.
If the Raiders fail to sign him prior to the Tuesday after Week 10, he will be ineligible to play in 2007. So if he were to sign on the Wednesday after Week 10, he would have to sit out the year. Because he was not signed prior to the 30th day before the start of the regular season, Russell's rights cannot be traded by the Raiders. Also, Russell can only sign with the Raiders until the first day of the April 2008 Draft. If still not signed by the Raiders, Russell can be drafted by any team except the Raiders. At least, that's how I understand it.
Thats why you should apply a little common sense to your post. Now what do I mean. There is no chance that russell dosen't sign with the Raiders at some point. Reason he has just as much to lose as the raiders , if he goes back into the draft. Lets seev where do you think he would be drafted next year, sitting out a whole season. Hes guranteed to make thirty million dollars this year, and might not anywhere close to that if he goes back into draft.
That almost as funny as drafting anthony Schlegel in the third and basically keeping him on the roster, so your draft record wouldn't look that bad.
Schlegel wasn't kept on the roster to make our draft look better,he was kept on it because he won the 4th ILB spot. But I won't pretend he was a good pick,it was a big mistake by the front office.
But not even a fraction as funny as making a huge deal about drafting a QB first overall and then going into the regular season without him even getting a playbook.
Once again, you failed to get the message of one of my posts. I was simply answering another poster's query.
he's not even on the team. you could argue a QB learning the offense would be beneficial, but Russell isn't even in the team complex. Lemme guess, Bush and Russell not contributing is good because the Raiders are planning to tank this season as well? Remember, tanking games is good according to jeaux and it's a smart management move.
hey raiderjoe, I have a proposal for you: I'll bet you $20 that the Jets offense has more yards than the Raiders offense.
RaiderJoe, i also place a bet with you. If the Jets end the season with a better record than the Raiders, you cannot post here all off-season (after the pro-bowl until TC starts) If the Raiders have a better record, the same thing goes for me.
Pretty myopic view of your Jets, no? I mean really, somebody tell me why Pennington is better than Culpepper, and do it without changing the topic or making a lame Al Davis crack. I don't know if you're underrating Culpepper but many of you consistently overrate Pennington. And by the way, Culpepper has plently of flaws. But I have to believe that the majority of football fans outside of the Jets and Raiders would agree that a healthy Culpepper is a game changing weapon, flaws and all. Pennington is smart and servicable, but a long way from "elite" or "the next Joe Montana" as Steve Serby once called him...
No basis in fact. Russell has had the playbook since the first of their two minicamps back in the beginning of May. He attended all OTAs and even put in two extra weeks over the summer with the offensive coordinator and QB coach. Don't get me wrong, him missing training camp is not good. But it's not like they'll hand him the playbook for the first time if he signs tomorrow...
