Kimo cut? Just another busted veteran signing at that position.

Not that it matters, but I hated that Schlegel selection from the second it was made (like about everyone else did). There were still quality DL and OG still available. Schlegel pick and Kimo signing are about the only 2 really bad moves by Tann and Co.

I guess he'll have a lot more time to go boar-hunting now :) It's good to see the Jets admitting their mistake and swallowing their pride with both KVO and Schlegel. On a lighter note, I loved the avatar of "Schlegel has bust written all over him."

Fellow 3rd round pick Buster Davis from FSU also got cut.

Where's the best place to get news of the cuts? The Jets' site is notoriously slow putting info up.

I tend to watch ROTOWORLD really closely, since they seem to scour the wires constantly, but I'm curious if anyone has a better place to get first word of cuts.

I think the deadline to notify the league is 5:00PM. That doesn't necessarily mean the team announces it to the press by then though.

I thought it was 4pm, but then I read reports that the deadline is 6pm (New York time). Maybe it is 5.

Tomorrow, after 12 noon NY time, teams can announce their Practice Squads.

The deadline is 6pm New York time.

Rams traded backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to Cincinnati.

Tim Hasselbeck (Giants QB) and Cory Schlesinger (Dolphins FB) are expected to be among today's cuts.

Not a bad back up. I don't know how true this is , but Simms is not set @ TBay , has a hip injury , will they still keep him?

This is from Cimini's Blog this morning. I know, he's a schmuck...

But what the hell, if you have been watching for the cuts all day like me, maybe this can generate a little discussion to keep us occupied until the official list comes out...

Today is one of the craziest days on the NFL calendar: Cutdown day. It’s like some of the last episodes of “The Sopranos” -- lots of bloodshed.

My predictions on the 22 cuts the Jets will announce today:

CB Andre Dyson -- Just a hunch. Chance they could trade him.
DE Kimo von Oelhoffen -- Bad free-agent signing.
DE Michael Haynes -- It was worth a shot.
LB Andre Wadsworth -- Another reclamation project bites the dust.
WR Frisman Jackson -- Numbers game.
TE Sean Ryan -- They’re shopping him for a trade.
CB Manny Collins -- Hello, practice squad.
DT Mike DeVito -- Good try.
QB Brett Ratliff -- Very few reps all summer.
    WR Chris Davis -- Who?
C Joseph Villani -- Decent player from Long Island.
    OT Marko Cavka -- A two-time loser.
WR Iiro Luoto -- How did he make it this far?
    WR Evan Prall -- Who?
LB Blake Costanzo -- Goes back to hanging out with Kramer, Jerry and Elaine.
S Jamie Thompson -- Numbers game.
S Raymond Ventrone -- Tough kid, tough cut.
RB Alvin Banks -- Beat out by Danny Ware.
RG Dominic Moran -- Crowded O-line.
RG Robert Turner -- Practice squad.
CB Alphonso Hodge -- Numbers game.
LB Jason Trusnik -- Oh, well.

The cuts will be announced at 5 p.m.

I think Tutt will make the team.

I thought he could be in trouble--didn't look great in first 3 PS games--b/c one of the TE's could serve as a blocking H-back type. But I think he helped himself with his showing at HB against Philly.

If Tutt makes it, I think Ware goes to the Practice squad with Tutt serving as 3rd HB as well as 2nd FB.
