Well - it looks like Pittsburgh will not give Faneca a new contract. As matter of fact they are talking to his counterpart Kendall Simmons about a new contract. Faneca will be 30 in December.

So, with the Jets where they are - and the Steelers where they are with younger guys and depth - what would you offer Pittsburgh for Faneca? Would he be the missing piece on our line?

Wow, reading up on Faneca brings memories of Kendall. Except we would be playing the part of the Redskins. LOL

He is a pro-bowler and Tanny loves how Pitts runs it's operations.

    Faneca history

I would probably give up a #2 for him, definitely not a one, and definitely a #3. I would rather give up one of the players we are looking to deal (McCariens, Dyson etc.) plus a #3 or #4 for him.

I'd probably say no... you could draft a better, younger, cheaper player next year with any of our first four picks... and I doubt they take less than that... I'd rather grab a stopgap off of free agency for this year, and address the oline through the draft next year.

Oh man, imagine if they sent J-slack to Pitt for him right after he took the paycut...BITCH SLAP!

RHODES? Are you crazy! I wouldn't give them a #1 for a guard either - but a #2 for sure

Heck no, not even a 3rd. He's a free agent at the end of the season and is going to be asking for big bucks.

I'm not sure why this is even under discussion. Faneca is under contract this seaon and is not holding out. Pittsburgh can franchise him next season if they need to. Why would they create a gaping whole in their line 1 week before opening day? I've got a better chance of playing for the Jets this year than Faneca.

I think a Pro Bowl guard is worth big bucks, especially if he's opening holes for your just acquired, BIG off season acquisition Thomas Jones as well protecting your QB.

I agree with you 100 percent, but this thread is one of those where sports fans have to discuss just to waste time.

Did you see the hole at the guard position? I would consider Vilma and Rhodes if I had to. Clearly a 30 year old guard a year away from FA is more valuable than a young ILB or S.
