Not that I like him... but Farnsworth has actually been pretty damn good the past six or seven times out.
How can you possible post those stats and say they have hit home runs at nearly identical rates? Are you serious? Maybe if Ortiz had played for 4 years and not 11 the rates would be the same.
Rate... independent of total time. In this case, the rate I was discussing was the percentage of home runs per situational at-bat. Not total home runs. Example: I drive 5 mph. That's my "rate" of travel. You drive 5 mph. That's your rate of travel. I drive it for ten hours. You drive it for five thousand hours. You'll rack up many more total miles than I will. Despite the difference in total time, the rate is the same. ETA: Actually, "rate" isn't the best word to use, although it's not inaccurate. Percentage would be better... but I think the idea is still clear. The breakdown of the percentage of home runs hit in given situations are very similar.
Yisman- you said the "greek god of walks".That's in the Stephen King's book faithful. Did you get that from the book? or is that his nickname from everyone?
he was given that nickname by the A's and Billy Beane when Youk was in the minors. Read the book Moneyball? Not from King.
