You just can't throw a 6th round pick who was a tackle in college into the guard position in the NFL right away. I don't think Kendall was that great of loss because he's just a whiny retread on the down side of his career. Having said that, the jets better find someone to play on the left side of the line. I think D'Brick looks overmatched totally and LG is like no one is home. Combine that with the fact that our first team defense made Eli Manning look like Peyton Manning, and it looks like a long season. I'm hoping for the best, but we have what appears to be one of worst OL AND DL in the AFC. (Bring back the 4-3, what have we got to lose!)!

I don't think we should go back to the 4-3. But if we're serious about playing it, get some f*cking D-Line.

i could not agree more...no left side of the oline (sorry, but DBrick sucks right now) and the DL looks weak...this could be a longggg season, especially with a much much rougher schedule than last year

Well it's one thing that i haven't seen talked about much on this board. The 3-4 can be monstrous if you have a solid D-Line. It seems that Mangini had changed our defense to 3-4, with our 4-3 personnel, because he saw it work well in NE, but hadn't actually thought about how it was going to work. Mabey a mistake of a young head coach in his first year...

D Brick was pretty solid last year. What makes you think that he's digressed since then?

I have to admit though -- the fact that they brought in Lomas Brown isn't very reassuring. It's like they're trying anything to salvage him.

Yeah, nobody ever talks about the 3-4 vs. 4-3 personnel problem. This one's been beat worse than a stubborn plow mule. I do wonder what happened to the reported 4-3 from camp? Maybe we're secretly gonna play 4-3 at NE:wink:

Brick might not have digressed, but with Bender as his wingman he'll be exposed in situations where Kendals ability and experience might have saved his ass.

it wasn't as if kendall was doing the blocking for him last year!!! it may just be that he's been over evaluated, talent wise by some on this board..

I'm sorry, but he's dealing with edge rushers almost exclusively when he gets beat, and that has nothing to do with the guard to your right. Absolutely nothing. Now, in running situations, that might have some validity but not when he's giving up sacks.

Ok, so the guy playing next to him won't have any impact on his game. Is that what you want me to believe? The fact that he can't deal with edge rushers makes it worse. The left side of the line was average before and now it's gotten worse.

D'Brick is doing the right thing against these type of rushes. When he gave up the sack to Osi he did the right hting against him by pushing him outside. It's pennington's job to step up in the pocket and avoid the sack. But the problem was there was no room to step up because bender gave up the inside. That was not as much D'Brick's fault as everyone thinks

I just don't see how Kendall really impacted his game. He's normally in one on one situations during a pass rush -- not always -- but usually.
The run game is different obviously, but that's where Bender should at least be a little more capable.

    Great analysis

On that particular play, the pocket totally collapsed because Tuck (as usual) got penetration on Bender.

You just can't give the thread a real title instead of 3 words and then ...?
