Let's get real and understand who these passes are against. Ross has potential but I've never heard of the other guy McCariens beats. All this does is pertuate, for better or worse, a mild controversy this season. I agree with Banks that Penny would've made the same throws if allowed.
Clemens is actually having time to set and throw, it probably wouldn't have been much different if he was getting harassed by the Giants 1st team. Regardless, I like his throws I like watching the 2nd teamers but we have to keep perspective. The 2nd team O-line does a better job against 2nd team defenses than our 1st team O-line does with 1st team defenses (and its not even close).
Yup when you have a bad OL, mobility, a quick release and a strong enough arm to make a D pay for cheating up is meaningless.
But Pennington is like a deer in headlights when pressured, while I have more faith in Clemens being able to make SOMETHING happen in those situations (and judging by our O-Line, there will be a lot of them.)
I don't believe Clemens has been around long enough to see all of his warts, yet. Who gives us a better chance against Pats is the real question. Penny > Clemens for now.
It really depends on whether you see Chad as an asset or a caretaker. I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet, not after last season. Of course, with the play of the o-line tonight, arguing the point is moot - Chad's not going to make it through a season with this blocking.
